@jabrew23  (Assuming you e-filed them together, at the same time...)   The state forms do not "Transmit" until the IRS "Accepts" the Federal filing.   That's a separate step in the process... first the Federal file is "Transmitted" to the IRS....then the IRS computers do a cursory check of the Federal data, which can take from ~15min-to-48 hrs (usually), and then the IRS either "Accepts" or "Rejects" the Federal filing.  IF the Federal is "accepted" , only then is your state tax file transmitted to the state.....but not if the IRS rejects the Federal filing.   Why?  IF the Feds "Reject", then something is apparently wrong, and the state doesn't really want to see anything until the Fed part is fully correct.   Will the state filing be considered to be late if the IRS takes too long?  Usually not a problem...your initial submission date/time is a part of the data being filed...so long as that was before the deadline, then no problem.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
How can I verify this with IRS or do I need to go through the Amended return process to get it checked/corrected?

Don't forget to tell 2023 TurboTax that the 1099-R with codes P J is a 2024 1099-R. @ndimitru

I received a W-2C after filing for an extension (and after April 15). The only correction is that my Connecticut (CT) state wages are now much lower than what was originally reported. The original W-2 reported Federal wages (unchanged), NY (unch), NC (unch), and CT (now corrected). I filed an extension (waiting on a K-1 in Sep.) so I haven't filed yet. I already paid CT taxes based on the orig W-2 and am owed a refund for federal, NY and NC. My questions: What do I do with the W-2C now? Do I amend CT now or just use the corrected numbers when I file later? Bonus if you know how to update CT wages without filing yet—I’ve had trouble finding the right place. Is it safe to assume I’ll get a CT refund since I overpaid? Will there be any penalties or issues?  Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hello,   I'm choosing to not renew my LLC business registration this year and closing my business. I have revenue from earlier in the year and expenses. Do I get to continue writing off expenses until my business is no longer registered, or for the remainder of the calendar year?

Ohio has a reciprocal agreement, on wages, with all neighboring states. No Ohio state taxes are withheld or due and you do not need to file an OH return. But your home state will tax you on your Ohio income. If Ohio taxes are mistakenly withheld, you have to file an Ohio return to get a refund.* You should ask your employer to stop withholding so you don't have to file an Ohio return every year. However the reciprocity agreement does not apply to local city taxes. You are not required to file a local city return, but you are also not entitled to a refund of the city withholding (box19 on your W-2), unless there was an error in the amount. If you are subject to a KY county or city tax, you should check to see if the KY city will give you a credit for the OH city tax withheld. KY does allow an itemized deduction (Schedule A) for local tax paid.   *If you indicated you were not a full year Ohio, at the Ohio residency screen, you will be asked  if you had Ohio income and were never an Ohio resident. If you check that box, you’ll get “Ohio Compensation deduction”, under miscellaneous, at the “Here’s the Income Ohio handles differently” screen. If you indicated you were a KY resident in the personal info section and an Ohio non resident, at the Ohio residency screen in the OH state section; you’ll get “Neighboring State Compensation” screen early in the Ohio program. There you enter the box 16 amount from your W-2 that Ohio taxed. Or After indication you were a non resident of Ohio and a KY resident at the Confirm Ohio residency screen -"Here's the Income that Ohio Handles Differently"   -Miscellaneous    -Wages of Full year residents of neighboring states Screen shot at https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/4256143-can-not-figure-out-adjustment-allocation-part-in-my-taxes-i-live-in-michigan-full-year-and-work-in-ohio-with-no-other-income-how-do-i-fill-this-out-or-do-i-need-to   All of your income is to be allocated to non-Ohio. Since some of your W-2 income has been allocated to OH, you need to re-enter that in the box titled “Compensation Earned  in Ohio”. That box is specifically for the wage/salary income of full year residents of reciprocal (neighboring) states.  Screen shot at https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/discussion/re-ohio-credits/01/2867672#M137181

Yeah, I had tried that before. It still doesn't show my balance online, and it has my current payment plan is pending. There is no option to actually revise it, so I think I just need to give it another few weeks before it reports properly online. Then, I'm hoping I can simply modify it and then add a monthly auto-debit.

This year I filed my LLC taxes for the first time after much research, TurboTax kept telling me to file at this link. I continue to file even though I had questions. My first question was why is it asking for my Social Security number? I called TurboTax asked him if I was doing this correctly. She said yes. Again, right before I’ve paid $390 to file my taxes I called because it was asking me for my Social Security number, I asked customer service. It only asked me for my EIN one time. Why is it asking me to use my Social Security number to file my taxes for my LLC, the customer service representative told me it’s because I am the one that’s filing the LLC. And to go ahead and I was good to file everything was correct to my surprise my taxes were rejected so I called TurboTax again and the nice gentleman told me no ma’am you’re supposed to be using the TurboTax software to file your LLC let’s get you a refund directed me on how to get the refund because he knows that I needed a refund, he was also confused at why the other two customer service representative kept telling me that I was doing it correctly. Again to my surprise TurboTax will not refund my $390 so I can go ahead and buy the TurboTax software. I called a total of three times with only one correct answer I keep getting I filed my taxes so I can’t get my money back. They’re not listening to me. I’m about to call my lawyer and make social media post but I wanna try to fix this before I go and do all that. How can I get my money back due to their customer service errors
I am having the same issue - and when i try to enter in my FEI it wipes out my entire credit!
It’s been three days now since IRS has updated my [removed] to approved and TurboTax hasn’t gotten off their [removed]

was that 4/15 Turbotax or the IRS WMR website? Turbotax's date is 21 days after acceptance but can be totally inaccurate. I found that more taxpayer than normal filed close to the due date delaying the processing of refunds. you can use the following to try to speak to an agent (if you can get through). I doubt anything can be done to speed up your refund  Call 800-829-1040 1) Choose your language, 2) Then choose option 2 3) Then 1 4) Then 3 5) Then 2 6) When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN do nothing – wait - - After it asks twice, you will get another menu 7) Then 2 😎 Then 3 It should then transfer you to an agent.
you have two options 1) one safe harbor requires you to pay in 100% of your 2024 tax liability. It's 110% if your 2024 AGI is $150K or more. 1/4 for each period (see 2) for period and due date)  ... See more...
you have two options 1) one safe harbor requires you to pay in 100% of your 2024 tax liability. It's 110% if your 2024 AGI is $150K or more. 1/4 for each period (see 2) for period and due date)  2) use the 2024 form 2210 annualized income installment method to estimate your periodic liability. it's not really quarterly.  the first 3 periods end 3/31 (due 4/15), 5/31 (due 6/15), and 8/31 (due 9/15). There are also online tax calculators, I cannot say how accurate they are when it actually comes time to file. the AIIM is geared towards paying in 90% of your 2025 tax liability.    either method can result in overpaying your taxes. That's just the way the tax laws work. paying 100% of your 2025 taxes on 1/15/2026 doesn't work because then there can be penalties for the first 3 quarters which may be mitigated by using the AIIM.  state laws may vary.
