The deceased needs to file a final 1040 for the year of death. Since they were alive part of the year and all of the 1099s are issued to their SS# then you can just file a form 1040 for them and be done with it. Since the estate has no income there is no need to file a 1041.

The house is my residence and I live in it when it isn't rented. The cleaning, maintenance, and supply costs I'm entering are 100% associated with the rental days.

Go back to the federal section and review your 1099-R. After you enter the information from the form, you should see follow-up questions. One of the questions asks where the distribution is from. Check your entry on that screen.
Massachusetts has special tax treatment for certain types of Form 1099-R distributions. Since this info isn’t reported directly on Form 1099-R, we want to double check to help us make sure you get the best tax outcome on your state taxes.
Income from most private pensions or annuity plans is taxable in Massachusetts but many government pensions are exempt. Withdrawals from a traditional IRA are taxable but the Massachusetts taxable amount may be different from the federal taxable amount.

No, there is no tax credit for you to take on your tax return for leasing an EV.
Keep in mind that the LESSOR (the car dealer) can get a credit on the EV you lease, so you can always try to bargain with the dealer to have part of the credit he gets applied to lower your lease payments.

Thank you, Mary, for the quick answer. But employee information on W2 is my name at my parents' NJ address, and the box 15 State is NJ with Wages in box16. Can I just write this wage to my CT resident state income and NJ won't get me in trouble in the future? (I did not work in NJ; I have other W2s with correct CT state information). Thank you!

@KeshaH I've gone through the screens multiple times and still can't find where to enter 0s for NY and NC (didn't work there). The nonresident options didn’t even appear for me. Additionally: The income allocation screens don’t seem to match what you described. The meter at the top hasn’t adjusted for NY and NC, though I’m not sure if that’s relevant. Can you point me to the screen name or section where I should be entering 0s for NY and NC? If it’s a specific step in the State section, should I be selecting or deselecting anything to trigger the right screens? Thanks in advance

Thought I had missed something also. I talked to a representative who said you had to send it in with a check because my state didn't accept a bank payment. I asked if there was a way to verify what I had selected and no help. What he said made no sense as I know I filled out the bank information for Federal and state. So these posts help. I will verify with bank. Looks like a know issue they have chosen not to fix and their customer support is not aware of how their product works.

I am claiming my college student as a dependent. He has taxable scholarship money. When I try to enter the 1098-T Form on his TT Deductions & Credits it says, "you are not eligible for an education credit" and won't allow me to enter any information. How can I report this taxable income on his return? Do I enter the information somewhere in the Wages & Income section? From what I have read he is responsible for this taxable income, not me and it should be entered somewhere on his return. He is required to file due to other income.
