You can claim him as a qualifying relative dependent only if (a) you pay more than half his total support, and (b) his taxable income is less than $5050 for 2024.    The rules for qualifying child dependent get a little more complicated.  You can claim him if (a) he lives in your home more than half the year, (b) he does not provide more than half his own support, and (c) he is disabled.   For this test, disabled means unable to perform gainful work (work for money).  If he can work a part-time job for minimum wage or better without special accommodations, then he can do gainful work.  However, work in a sheltered workshop for persons with disabilities is not gainful work even if he is paid.   Because of the focus on gainful work, many people with medical disabilities are not disabled for tax purposes if they can work (amputees, blind or hearing impaired, etc.).

I have an excess foreign tax credit for 2024. Desktop Turbotax H&B tells me I might need to file an amended 2023 return for a carryback, subject to some conditions. My question: where do I find this "Amount Used"? What line on what form? Should I be looking at the 2024 return or the 2023 return? TIA!
I efiled, but it was rejected. How do i go back to return to remove or change the irs pin?
Can I file for an extension with turbo tax?
A Spouse can never be claimed as a dependent.  You should be filing as Married Filing Jointly even if one spouse has little or no income.

I keep getting stuck in this doom loop where I keep getting asked to review my information regarding school state and zip code. It is a foreign school, and I did make sure to label it as foreign in the first page, but it keeps asking me to put US state and zip code which does not make sense. I cannot complete the last part which is filing.

When you are entering income on a joint return, every income entry screen will either have a spot with both spouse’s names there, or when you click to enter a W-2, 1099R, etc. it will ask you by name which spouse it is for.  You do not have to wait for the software to “ask” you for your spouse’s income. Go to the screens to enter your spouse’s W-2’s, 1099’s, etc. just like you did for your own income.  Then look for your spouse’s name there.     If she is a sole proprietor she has self-employment income.   If you have self-employment income for which you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare,  you will need to use online Premium software or any version of the desktop software download so that you can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/self-employed/help/how-do-i-report-income-from-self-employment/00/26653   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/self-employed/help/what-is-the-self-employment-tax/00/25922   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/enter-self-employment-business-expenses-like-home/L1k6HJY4A_US_en_US?uid=m6jrthmp

@me_226 wrote: But why is turbotax calc. only the standard deduction and not including the senior . How do you correct it in the desktop program. The sheet they included showed that the standard deduction plus the  senior was 18,500.   You are referring to the Standard Deduction that will be in effect for tax year 2025.  The tax returns being filed now are for tax year 2024.
