Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.   Your refund could be offset. The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.    The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.   Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others? What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?
Yes, for 1099-Cs you can just add them together and enter them.  The IRS already has copies of the forms and knows the total and the actual forms don't need to be included with the return.

TurboTax could be modified to ask about deductible contributions made in or after the year one reaches age 70½, but I suspect that that would create a lot of question by those who do not know the law.  TurboTax tracking basis in these deductible contributions would require much more, similar to what is done for nondeductible traditional IRA contributions.   "I’ve found that Turbo Tax doesn’t automatically create a Form 8606 each year when my prior year forms are in the system. "   This is correct behavior.  The IRS wants Form 8606 included in your tax return only if reporting one  or more of the transaction that instructions for Form 8606 indicate are required to be reported on this form.  With nothing new to report, your last-filed Form 8606 is still current.  For your own yearly tracking you can refer to TurboTax's IRA Information Worksheet (which each year you should check to verify that it still has the correct information).

The amount on line 2b of the medical expenses worksheet does not match the amount on my 1095-A.  I do not have a schedule 1 or a schedule C, and Part II of schedule 3 is blank.  The difference is only $5, so I doubt it makes any significant difference, but I would like to understand why the numbers don't match.   Just had an epiphany, it looks like Turbo tax is calculating the amount on line 2b by adding the rounded amount of the 12 monthly premiums from the 1095-A instead of the Annual total from the 1095-A.  For example, my monthly premium was XXX.40.  The amount on the worksheet reflects XXX x 12 instead of XXX.40 * 12.  Seems like a bug to me.
I tried again on Friday as suggested and saw the Oregon state download was updated but still no fix to this problem. New ETA on the fix?

That $200 check was likely the NYS Inflation Refund (also called the Supplemental Tax Credit) sent out in late 2025. The IRS and NYS have specific rules for these "one-time" checks:   The $200 is NOT taxable by New York State. You do not owe NYS any tax on this money. On the federal level,  if you took the Standard Deduction in 2024:  The $200 is NOT taxable. You can likely skip the amendment entirely. Most taxpayers fall into this category. If you Itemized Deductions (Schedule A) in 2023: It is taxable federally because you received a "tax benefit" from deducting your state taxes previously. You will need to file an amended return only if you met the third condition mentioned. if this is the case, report this as other income.   Go to Federal > Wages & Income. Find State and Local Tax Refunds (1099-G). Enter the $200. When it asks for the Tax Year, select 2023 (since the check was based on your 2023 eligibility). When TurboTax asks, "Does either apply to your 2023 New York return?"—select NO. Choosing "No" might seem unusual, but it lets the software know this is a "Special Payment," not a regular refund. This way, it’s included in your Federal Income and automatically subtracted on your New York state return.   If you have already filed and realized you definitely need to report this (as an itemizer):   Wait until your original return is fully processed and you have received your refund (or paid your balance). Open your tax file in TurboTax and select "Amend a filed return." Follow the steps above to add the 1099-G. The software will generate Form 1040-X. If working in the desktop version,    Go to federal>other tax situations Other tax forms Amend a return

Looks like two lines of info on Form 4797 are including and duplicating information. Total of two Gross sales prices [d] are too much as land sale and cost value are on both lines but top line already includes land value. Result is that instead of -9k total - the form on a separately line duplicates land costs - so there is an unnecessary Gain.

Thanks so much for the tip.  I thought about trying that, but was hoping the software would be fixed by now.  But I like your approach, since that will allow me to file an accurate return.  I'll go ahead and do that.  I've been a many year turbo tax customer, but am thinking will look for another option next year.  Thanks again!!!

No one at TurboTax knows what changed on your refund.  The IRS does not share any information with TurboTax after you file your tax return.   If the IRS reduced your refund they will explain why in a letter that you will receive in the mail.     Common reasons include owing back taxes, child support or the IRS found a mistake you made.

So I had thousands of transactions as well. The form 8949 is structured such that the first few pages summarizes all your non-custodial wallet activity depending on certain designations (you’ll see check boxes like H, I, J, K, L). All you need to do on FreeTaxUSA is enter each summary transaction from the first few pages for each broker (all your non-custodial wallet activity should be consolidated in a single line item, at least it was for me). Then once all of those summary proceeds/cost basis boxes are manually filled in to the software (I only had 6 across all the different designations), all you need to do is upload the full 8949 file which will include all the transactions as supporting documentation in sheet 1 underneath the actual tax form pages. That’s it. As long as you have the summary transactions from 8949 and sheet 1 attached as documentation, you can file. No entering thousands of individual transactions.

If you are a W-2 employee your W-2 will always show the amounts withheld from your paychecks for Social Security and Medicare.     If you are 65 or older, (or in some special circumstances) you will have Medicare for your health insurance.    If you have Medicare, that means you also have a Medicare card and use Medicare to pay for your health care.    Seeing Medicare on your W-2 does not mean you "have" Medicare.   Enter your W-2 exactly as it appears.   You do not enter anything about having Medicare anywhere else on your tax return.
