I searched for "extension", and the search engine generated a video which says that there is a link to the form but there isn't. The return list is only more links to posts telling you that filing is easy. I have the downloaded turbotax, but the question deals with my kid's returns. So it isn't exactly clear which version of turbotax I have. Where is the link that actually files the extension?

This reject code means that there's already been a return filed with the same SSN. If the SSN on your return is correct, you will need to mail your return and include a Form 5593.

If you were both covered, then you are both required to report this on your return. You will then select that this policy is shared with another tax payer and each of you will claim 50% as the allocation amount.   Be aware, if you are filing separately, you are not eligible for the Advanced Premium Tax Credit.  So you will both likely see an increase in your tax due or a drop in your refund.

I have a single member LLC. I already submitted my 2024 tax return. Today I am officially dissolving my LLC. I have made no profit from my business in 2025. I know I need to mail a letter to the IRS to cancel my EIN and close my business account. My question is, can I cancel it now, or do I have to wait until next year and file 2025 taxes for my LLC showing that I made no profit?

Turns out I had negative numbers. Once I got rid of them I no longer got this error message. Instead a new problem happens: The import has been processing for 5+ minutes and isn't complete yet. These crypto import tools aren't working well.   My specific issue still has to do with Coinbase Pro transactions that are needed to complete the data in Coinbase. I'm sure there are lots of people with this issue and Turbotax should make a tool that works easily for everyone.

Yes, you should amend the 2023 tax return. If you have a balance due, it's recommended to file and pay as soon as you realize you need to amend in order to stop the penalties and interest from accruing.   Form 1099-NEC is used for non-employee compensation, which is often paid to freelancers or contractors and reported on Schedule C, which is why you are being asked business questions. If you have no related expenses, you can answer the questions and report just the income on Schedule C.   See: What is a 1099-NEC?
