Thanks,  I will use the start date of my MD lease, which is only a few days before the start date of my MD employment as the demarc between NY and MD residency.  My documented last day of NY employment and expiration of my NY lease is 3 months before that and only income in those 3 months is via 1099int.... but it's not worth messing with it.

I found your info to be very helpful with my current situation and was hoping you could provide an update.  I have pretty much the same situation as the original poster.   started using personal vehicle for business use.  Varied over 3 years but is 14% over the total usage.  I traded it in on a new car in 2025.  I've been struggling for over a week trying to figure out how to report this.  I used standard deduction and used the chart to figure the combined depreciation over the use of the vehicle.   After entering my business miles, ect, TT is asking if I converted the asset to non-business use.  I initially said no, and then entered all the subsequent info, and TT is saying a capital gain of $1800 (which doesn't seem right to me).  should I be saying yes that I converted it to personal use here?  I don't understand this question.  Not sure if that will even have an impact on the capital gain result?   Thank you SO MUCH!

I have no problem getting into the loop where TurboTax says "based on your answers you don't have a penalty" and asks me if I want to repeat that loop. The problem is that TurboTax only checks for estimated tax payments meeting the 90% of current tax liability and 110% of the previous years tax liability. It does not take into consideration that my estimated quarterly tax payments are based on quarterly income and that I have an extra tax payment between quarters for a one time unexpected income event. TurboTax does not test for this in form 2210 instructions: "The penalty is figured separately for each installment due date. Therefore, you may owe the penalty for an earlier due date even if you paid enough tax later to make up the underpayment. This is true even if you’re due a refund when you file your tax return. However, you may be able to reduce or eliminate the penalty by using the annualized income installment method." I can pay over 100% of current tax due and over 110% of previous years liability, and be overpaid at each quarter, but I can't prove that I have overpaid at each quarter without filling in form 2210 and TurboTax doesn't give me that opportunity unless I zero out estimated payments. Then when I go back in to fix the estimated payments, it removes the form 2210.

I have finished completing an amended return with TT. It says that I have selected to file my amended return electronically. But I didn't. I did E-file my original returns. I can't see a way to print out or file my amended return that won't cost me over $100. All I want to do is print out my amended return and mail to the IRS and my state. How can I do this?  Thanks

Hi. Yes, Desktop Massachusetts form 1, page 2, section 3, called the pensions and annuities smart worksheet.  I had (2) 1099Rs to list in the software for Mass and questions to answer.  One was a straightforward yearly pension for my wife that is fully taxable by Mass.  The other was a 401-pension rollover to an existing traditional IRA, so nothing is taxable by Mass.  Once I completed entering in the software, I looked in Forms in my Mass return and saw the first pension listed with No type, but the correct taxable pension dollar amount was listed.  The other 401 rollover (a non-taxable event) was listed but again, No type, and No dollar amount was listed.  Lower on the page I opened the "explain" box and typed in an explanation.  It hit me funny that No amount was listed in the forms section, but again the money distribution is not taxable.  Am I doing this okay?  Maybe everything is fine and I should just leave everything the way it is, and don't add anything else to the boxes or amounts. The first pension is a type 7 distribution on my 1099R, and the 401 rollover is a type G on the 1099R.  I appreciate your help!

My comment on "most of us" is from rereading the numerous comments you've been responding to in the last one to two months. Perhaps there are a lot of other folks who've been using ItsDeductible standalone throughout 2025 who encountered this back in October or before. However, it's clear that several of the folks commenting on this issue attempted to enter/value their 2025 donations using TurboTax ONLY after installing it in 2026. That's been my approach for many years now. It's also clear that some of us came to this board this year looking for solutions/explanations ONLY after discovering that functionality had disappeared without any warning from Intuit to us. I wouldn't call that as having our "heads in the sand (or somewhere worse)", but hey, you do you.

Thanks Dianne, did you mean Supplies in Other Common Business Expenses instead of materials and supplies? Materials and supplies is in the Inventory/Cost of Goods Sold section. Also here says you can use Cost of Goods Sold in the Inventory section or Supplies in Other Common Business Expenses.   And how do you choose one option over the other? Does it even matter?

As my ASUS Desktop/PC was Windows 10 so 1. I installed Turbotax 2025 in my wife's Laptop and activated the license. License number 1 consumed here. 2. I renamed her PC to a new name and when launched Turbotax it asked to activate license because the host name changed. I did not know or realized that changing the hostname will consume one license. Later I realizing I cannot use her PC for any personal work. License number 2 consumed here. 3. So I upgraded my ASUS Desktop/PC to Windows 11 and installed the Turbotax 2025 and activated the license. Later found out my ASUS is extremely slow and cannot be good for Windows 11. License number 3 consumed here. 4. I clone the ASUS disk and installed in a new DELL Desktop/PC and activated the license here. License number 4 consumed here. 5. Launched Turbotax in Dell PC and it asked to activate license and I did it. License number 5 consumed here. I mistakenly change DELL hostname to reflect DELL and upon launching it is asking to activate license but it has already consumed 5 licenses. I wand to remove all 5 PC from my license so I can only use in my final DELL PC. How can I do this? Thanks.

I received a 1099-Q this year because my dad contributed to my Roth IRA. I get all the way to filing on the web version, and boom, I get hit with an issue on box 4. Apparently, when box b is checked, TT software is not updated yet to handle this. Super frustrating as this is the last thing I need to file (and I'd rather not do an amended return). Does anyone else have b checked on their box 4 in TT, and are you also getting this problem? And if so, what is the workaround you found? Rep said mid-March to early April is when they would update the software but that seems like a joke considering how much people pay for this.

If you received medical leave benefit payments from DFML, but box 1 of your 1099-G is zero, that means that any payments you received were not considered taxable.  That would explain why Box 1 is empty (or $0).     Did you enter $0 for box 1, or leave it blank when you input the 1099-G information into TurboTax?  If not, try that.  If $0 doesn't work, try entering $1.
@basbusiness    Another thing to try..is to open the PDF, and try printing JUST the first page. Then the next two only if that works.....etc..until you get the missing ones.

I am filing form 1310 for a deceased mother.  I got a somewhat cryptic error message in Turbotax when I checked the return that I can't file my return electronically.  I know I have to file form 1310 by paper and send in a copy of the document that shows I am the executor,  but can I still file the return itself (ie, the 1040) electronically, or do I have to file everything by paper?
