If you were truly an employee you should not have a 1099-NEC, you should have a W-2.  You will need to ask him for the W-2.    If you were self-employed (meaning you had behavioral control or financial control) you do not have to have a 1099-NEC to enter your income on your return. To enter your self-employment income select the following: Federal Income and Expenses Show More next to Self-Employment Start next to Self-Employment Yes, to you have any self-employment income or expenses Enter the type of self-employment work you do and you can select that you use your name for your business Click through a few more screens and you will get to a screen that says "Your XX info" Click Looks good Then you will come to a screen that says Let's enter the income for your business.  It will give you the option of 1099-NEC or Other self-employed income including the 1099K , cash and checks.  Here is where you will enter the money you receive. If you do not select one, it will not let you enter your income Enter your self-employment income on the next screen Continue and on the next screen click add expenses * Please note navigation may differ slightly depending on which version of TurboTax you are using*
I have a HDHP and an HSA that I contribute to. I used my HSA for qualified expenses in 2025, when I put the 1099-SA into the software, it adds $300 + onto what I owe the IRS. Something is incorrect.

Your refund amount changes as you enter documents because TurboTax calculates your tax liability as you enter your documents. When you enter your self-employment income, TurboTax calculates the income tax on your profit and also your self-employment taxes.   Refer to the TurboTax article  Reporting Self-Employment Business Income and Deductions for additional details.   You will ‌also be subject to self-employment taxes. Self-employment taxes and deductions are calculated on Schedule SE.  For additional information, please see the TurboTax article Self-Employed Federal Income Taxes.

Clearly we got nowhere by complaining about this last year.     So now I have two spreadsheets, one for 1099-INT and one for 1099-DIV.  Each brokerage account has a column, each line is a box on the 1099, plus extra lines for things like amortized bond premium, accrued market discount, accrued interest paid, etc.  It's a shame, it would be nice if Turbotax did it for you, but it forces you to pick up things that may not be picked up in the import process, good as it is.  And the spreadsheet typically has induced errors caused by the hand entry.  But eventually there are no more mysteries.   Sometimes you just have to give up.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately on line 13b.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately
How do I claim the $6000 senior deduction?
How do I make a tax payment with my extension of time to file my Federal return?
Where do I add Ssa benefits
