To fix the TurboTax "This code isn’t right" activation error, carefully re-enter the 16-digit code exactly as shown, without extra spaces, and ensure you are using the correct version (Online vs. CD/Download). Clear your browser cache, try a different browser, or restart the application, as temporary glitches often cause this issue.    Some TurboTax Desktop customers may receive multiple prompts to activate their license, which results in TurboTax not launching. One of the five suggested methods in this help article should resolve this issue. If it's successful, TurboTax will skip activation and open the starting screen where you can begin or continue your return. Directions to activate the installed product continue in this help article.   Try following the steps at this TurboTax webpage to activate your product based on your specific Desktop version and operating system.   If after trying all of the options mentioned you still have the same problem:   See this help article and this one for instructions on how to contact TurboTax customer support depending on which product you are using.

Yes. You should have received a Form 1099-R from your bank after rolling your money into Fidelity, which you should enter in your tax return.    If it was a direct rollover*, you will need to follow the correct steps so that you are not taxed on the distribution as if you had kept the money. To report your Rollover in TurboTax, do the following:   Go to Income on the left panel within your TurboTax account Click on the Start to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Click on the +Add a 1099-R Continue through the questions until you reach, "Tell us if you moved the money through a rollover or conversion", where you will select that you did roll it over   To confirm you are not being taxed, review your Form 1040. The total amount will appear on Line 4a because it was a distribution. However, Line 4b will have a zero (0) because it is not a taxable event.   You can then view your Tax Summary to check the entry by doing the following:   Select Tax Tools, then Tools from the left side panel in TurboTax Select View Tax Summary You can then click on Preview my 1040 on the left side panel to view your 1040 in more detail   *You mentioned you had to take a distribution. If the full amount was for this direct rollover to Fidelity, it won't be taxable. However, if you kept a portion of the money, you must report the distribution using your Form 1099-R. In that case, Line 4b of your Form 1040 will show the taxable portion you kept, and you may also owe a 10% penalty if you are under age 59 1/2.

My son forgot to say I was claiming him on his taxes and got his refund. When I try to file mine, it was rejected becuse he did not put himself as a dependent. Now, I owe Money which i already paid throug the IRS. If I remove him and file, I have to pay more and the payment will change. If he amend it , will it affect his refund? What is the best advice that you can give me? If i mail it, what will happen to the money I paid since there is not tax return? Thank you

Here's how you can fix it:  Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.    Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.    Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.    Additional reject instruction here.

If you are claimed as a dependent on your parents return, you would not need to enter the 1095-A.  If you are being asked for one, then you should go back to the personal info section and double check to be sure that you have told TurboTax that you are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.

You can try asking.  When you contract them do not say refund,  say Billing Issue.    How to contact Turbo Tax https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-contact-turbotax/00/26991

This could have been an internet connection issue or overloaded server yesterday morning on Tax Day.   If TurboTax is stuck at a step, or you get a blank screen, try these steps:   Clear cache and cookies  Log out of TurboTax, restart your device, and log and back in Use a different browser (e.g., switch from Chrome to Edge). Try a different time of day when there may be lower "traffic" As we approach the filing deadline, there is higher server traffic, which can significantly impact the tax filing process by causing system slowdowns, application errors, and potential delays in submission for both individuals and tax professionals.

On the Massachusetts Form 1-NR/PY, Line a is Total Federal income (from Form 1040, line 9). Line 14f is total income (on Form 1-NR/PY). It would be expected that total federal income and total income on Form 1-NR/PY would be similar, specifically that the income on Form 1-NR/PY would be less than total income on Form 1040.   To fix this error you should go back through the Massachusetts tax return in TurboTax Online and make sure that your federal income is properly allocated to the MA return. You can do that by going to State from the left menu and selecting Edit/Continue next to Massachusetts.   Also, check the My Info section from the left menu in TurboTax Online and make sure that your MA residency status is listed correctly as either part-year or nonresident.

I'm not trying to get a refund for my Turbotax product but the state e-filing add-on that's done one step before the returns are electronically sent.    My state e-file was rejected for reasons that Turbotax was unable to diagnose or resolve. With the 4/15 deadline here I had no choice but to paper file. Would this entitle me to a refund of the $25 I paid separately for state e-filing?

MY E-FILE GOT REJECTED DUE TO AGI MISMATCH.  WHEN I TRIED TO FIX IT, IT ASKS FOR MY SPOUSES AGI.  WE FILED MARRIED JOINT TAX RETURN.  WHY DOES IT ASK FOR MY SPOUSES AGI? ALSO, I AMENDED MY PRIOR YEAR TAX RETURN? I  USED MY AMENDED AGI AND IT GOT REJECTED. THEN A REFILED WITH THE ORIGINAL AGI. IT STILL GOT REJECTED.  I CALLED IRS AND THE REP SAID TO TRY ZERO FOR AGI.     MY QUESTION IS, DID ANYBODY TRY PUTTING ZERO ON THEIR AGI AND IT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM?
The amended AGI is not used for filing. Continue to use the 2024 AGI for e-file as identification.

Here is how to find and use the bank link feature for your 2025 return.   The link option typically appears after you have finished entering your business income. Go to Wages & Income and select Self-Employment Income and Expenses. Click Edit/Review next to your business. Continue through the screens until you reach the "Your [Business Name] info" summary page. Scroll down to the Expenses section. Look for a blue button or link that says "Connect My Accounts" or "Import Expense Transactions." If you already started entering expenses manually or if the business was imported from last year, the "Connect" button might not be there. To get around this you can: Create a "dummy" business. Select Add another line of work. Give it a temporary name and enter $1 of income. When you move to the Expenses section for this new work, the "Connect Accounts" button should reappear. Once you import your transactions and categorize them, you can move them to your "real" business and delete the dummy one.
