The time period that it was supposed to of been available was written in one of the messages was 1/21/2026. it is now 1/28 2026 and it is still not available according to my tax program.  I looked into it and was told oh, just update it.  Yeah that didn't work.  When is it REALLY  going to be available?  I even signed up for emails to let me know when and I keep getting the emails that it is when apparently it is not working properly either or I wouldn't be messaging you if it was.   Can someone let me know when or if this is going to be available?
My employer moved me to a new state in August.  Purchased new home there but still trying to sell old one.  How do I capture this in Turbo Tax.  Which is the primary home?

I'm having the same issue.... Form 8606 should've been available today (1/28/2026) according to my desktop version and it's not.   Now it just says 'Ready Soon' instead on the desktop version.  Yet on the TT forms website, it still says it's available TODAY.  The form is filled out... it was a whopping two lines of data input and yet, I can't file because the form's not ready...  If the form ready today, then it should be downloadable today.

Can I check to see if these are populating while I am in the process of working on my taxes?  How to check for this?    Thanks.

Thanks for your response.   Would the fair market value (FMV) need to be based on the date of death of my great-great grandmother who died more than 100 years ago or based on the date of death of my father from whom I inherited the mineral rights?  Otherwise, I would use $0 as the cost basis.   Thanks again!

If you are using the Online version you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.  Each account needs a new username and password and has separate fees unless you can use the Free Edition for a return.  If you use the same account then his return will overwrite yours and your return will be gone.   The Desktop installed program can do unlimited returns and efile 5 federal for free.

You probably answered something incorrectly in MY INFO.   Go back to MY INFO, click the child’s name  and go through all of the interview questions carefully and slowly.  Read every screen top to bottom.     Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number.    Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment.  If your child was born in 2025 make sure you said he lived with you the whole year.  There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support.  Say NO to that question.

Because Tax Year 2024 is closed for e-file, you will need to print and send your amended return to the IRS on paper.    On the left-hand side of TurboTax Online, select Tax Tools and then select Print Center to print your 1040X (and amended state return, if applicable).    Here are the instructions (How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year?) to make sure you are working on the amended Form 1040X: TurboTax Online On the Tax Home screen, scroll down to Your tax returns & documents and select the year you want to amend. Select the Amend (change) return dropdown, then Amend using TurboTax Online. If you're told to amend your return via TurboTax Desktop, follow the steps for TurboTax Desktop instead. Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return.   TurboTax Desktop Open the TurboTax Desktop software for the year you're amending. For example, you must amend your 2024 return in the 2024 version of TurboTax. Under Need to Amend a Filed Return?, select Amend a Filed Return. Select Amend for the return you need to amend. If the return you need doesn’t appear as an option, select Find a Tax File to find and load the return. On the Do you need to change anything else screen, select Update next to the info you need to change. Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return. Don’t forget to select Save As (or Duplicate on Mac) from the File menu when you save a copy of your amended return. This will preserve the tax return you originally filed. Give the file a different name from the original, like [tax year]_amended_tax_return_Smith.   For further guidance, here's the IRS information page for filing an amended 1040X.
Dear @AmyC, Please reread my post. One can claim both the FEIE and FTC when FEI exceeds the maximum FEIE. The bug I describe occurs when that FEI is sourced to two countries.

Roger,   Thanks.  Absolutely correct.  I discovered this just before seeing your response.  The "trap," if there is one, is that TurboTax lists last years 1099's, be they -DIV or -INT, in alphabetical order.  So if you had clicked on DIV entries at the start and the next 1099 happens to be a -INT rather than a -DIV, it's too easy to click on -DIV again because that's the way you started and intended to enter data.   Thanks again!
If the insurance company knows that the distribution is nontaxable, they have the option not to send you any Form 1099-R, so nothing to report on your tax return in this case.
