I have reported this bug in two conversations with the TT helpline (and in the second instance, they took my anonymized return data to escalate it). So far, no word on a fix. TT promises "100% accuracy" in its calculations, but as others have noted, many people relying on the software this year to estimate taxes will incur a penalty for underpayment. Both the TT representatives I spoke with acknowledged this bug constitutes a significant liability for the company. . . . No doubt there's already a law firm out there preparing a class action suit.

Yes, you’ll need to empty the SEP IRA too as well as the rollover IRA. The IRS “Pro-Rata Rule” treats all your Traditional IRAs as one big account, not separately.  Here is a summary of how to proceed.    Check with your 401(k) provider: Confirm they accept rollovers from both Rollover IRAs and SEP IRAs.  Move the pre-tax balances: Move both the $65K and the SEP balance to the 401(k). The "Last Man Standing": Leave only your after-tax basis in the Traditional/Rollover IRA. Convert: Move that remaining amount to your Roth IRA. Verify: Ensure all non-Roth IRA accounts hit $0 by December 31. None of this will affect your HSA. Health Savings Accounts are governed by different sections of the tax code and are not included in the pro-rata calculation for IRA conversions. You can leave that balance exactly where it is.

Helpful TurboTax Articles: What if I can't import my 1099? How can I fix my 1099 import issue? How do I import my 1099s? How do I enter a large number of stock transactions in TurboTax? If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.   To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings: Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu. Toggle the switch to ON. Refresh the page and attempt your import again. What do I do when my data isn't imported into TurboTax Desktop even though it says successful import in my browser? If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play: Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements. Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back. Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

As mentioned in my last post, un-installing and re-installing Turbo Tax fixed the crashing issue.   But unfortunately, Turbo Tax now thinks I've hit my 5 return limit when I actually only sent 2 returns electronically.  It seems like when it crashed, it still counted against my limit, ugh.   I have one more return I need to file and while of course I can print and mail it, I want to e-file it as per my 5 return limit.  Reading all the other posts sounds like it is unlikely to get help from TurboTax to fix the 5 return issue but I'll keep looking and try to reach support.

I live in New York and work in New Jersey, and typically my New Jersey number is higher than New York. However, this year I work a few days a week out of New York which might impact this - my New York number is higher, and matches my federal number, where is my New Jersey number is 10% lower. Should I still use the New Jersey number for New Jersey?

I see there is an option off file in main menu for import removal that I can delete the DIV and B parts of that 1099, that the best way? Then import the new 1099 via which method?

This doesn't really answer my question. My question was pertaining to an e-file of an extension. For me, it was initially submitted along with a scheduled payment, then rejected (on Saturday). So I went back into TurboTax to correct and resubmit it (on Sunday). The confirmation of submission page on Sunday reiterated the payment scheduled date (scheduled for Monday). My e-filed extension was then accepted later on Sunday; however, that payment was not deducted on Monday. I would like to review whether that payment schedule was effectively completed, since I did not see the deduction on the date for which it was scheduled.

Hopefully, if there was punctuation you removed, that solved it.  But here's another thought I had:   Do you qualify for the free Military discount  (E1-E9 active duty and reservists) and thus have no fees?   Or do you have any fees?  I know in the past, that military who DID have fees and tried to use the "Pay out of refund" feature encountered a problem.    And at that time I think the consent form for that option would not accept the APO/FPO/DPO and would say there's an address error or either state or zip code.   Is your error by any chance related to "pay out of refund?"

This is a rip off. Period. Intuit is scamming users by making ti seem like they are helping you by generously saving you trouble and deducting the fee from your federal refund. Not so. They are discretely heaping an extra fee in top of it and getting to handle your money in their bank account to boot.   PAY THE FEE UP FRONT. DO NOT HAVE THEM TAKE IT FROM YOUR REFUND. SCAM!
