Bingo! I had inadvertantly said all the rmd was attributible to the w/d, changed to partial, and got the question asking what I did with the remainder - thanks!

First of all---you do not use the process to "amend" in order to just fix a rejected tax return. You only use "amend" to make corrections to a tax return that has been accepted and fully processed by the IRS. This is done on a special form 1040X. Hopefully you did not use 1040X to just add an IP PIN.
So perhaps you are just mis-stating when you say you "amended" and mean that you just added the PIN. You cannot e-file a 2023 rejected return. E-filing is permanently closed for 2023. The only way for you to file it now is by mail. Print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

The form says available according to the TurboTax form availability page. It originally said the Form was due to be available on 1/21/2026. However within the App it still says "Available Soon". Looks like the "Form" is able to be manually filled out but the "Step by Step" instructions are not yet available for this. Is there an ETA on when this might occur? I saw something about updates every Thursday. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/taxation/irs-forms-availabi[product key removed]tax-individual/L0JQ1PHNW_US_en_US?uid=lrzka11q Does anyone have any insight? I've checked for updates but the app says I have all the latest updates as of today.

Payroll is captured automatically. The other question is only about out of pocket contributions and does not include payroll contributions.
It is also possible you are being flagged for excess contributions if you have not completed the interview questions about your qualifying insurance.
And of course, it's also possible that you did over-contribute. We would need more details on that.

Although the forms availability table indicates that Form 8829 is ready to e-file, depreciation calculations have not been finalized. This prevents Form 8829 from accurately calculating your home office deduction, which is why you received the "Check this Entry" message.
We recommend that you wait a few days for TurboTax Online updates to be released, which should resolve the experience you're having with the Home Office Deduction.

The earned income can be reported on your tax return and immediately 'backed out' or corrected. Then the income can be correctly reported on your son's income tax return. How the income is reported on your tax return will determine how the correction is made.
What IRS form 1099 have you received?
A dependent of another taxpayer is required to file his or her own tax return if:
Your earned income (money you made by working) exceeds $15,750,
Your unearned income (interest, dividends, capital gains, etc.) exceeds $1,350,
Your business or self-employment net income (gross minus expenses) is at least $400,
Your gross income (earned plus unearned) exceeds the larger of $1,350 or your earned income plus $450.

As I understand it, CIB is the Certificate of degree of Indian Blood, right? You normally do not need to enter this in your tax return.
Could you tell me what box is the "Native American Income box"? I am aware that some states allow income earned by an enrolled tribal member from work ON that tribe's reservation to be deducted from taxable income for that state (not the federal return). Is this what you are talking about?
To give you exact instructions, I would need to know which state you are talking about.
NOTE: If you are e-filing and need to enter an ID number, if you don't have a state-issued ID, you can use a tribal ID.

If you indicated that the entire amount was RMD, TurboTax will not provide the rollover questions because RMDs are not eligible for rollover. If TurboTax asked and you indicated that the distribution was a nonqualified distribution, TurboTax will not provide the rollover questions because nonqualified distributions are not eligible for rollover. Try deleting and reentering the Form 1099-R.
