Line 6B on my 1040-SR is “Taxable amount”. There are other lines in Schedule B part III that ask about foreign investment. Those boxes are checked “no” properly. In the TurboTax Federal Worksheet “Taxpayer is a resident of the state above for the entire year” box is checked. I will be getting mail detailing the exact problem. The IRS agent said this was a calculation problem. I specifically asked him if it was due to incorrect data being entered on my form. He said no, it was a calculation problem and he referred me to Publication 915. I haven’t read Publication 915 because I have not yet received precise information on what the error was.

I had to amend my 2025 return because I forgot to include $1000 personal contribution to my HSA in the original return. After going the the TurboTax amendment process and e-filing the amendment, it said that I also needed to mail form to IRS. Looking at the forms it indicated needed to be mailed it was a payment voucher for the revised amount of taxes owed. But, both the original and amendment files were e-filed and included bank account info for the payment to be made electronically to the IRS. So does amending the return disable or invalidate the electronic payments? I don't want to double-pay by sending a check through mail only to find it gets duplicated by the electronic payments.

I have this same issue with a 1099-R.  I have checked the USPS address to verify the zip code is correct.  I have deleted and reentered the data and still Turbo Tax is not accepting it.  It must be a glitch in Turbo Tax. I have seen other replies stating to make sure the correct State abbreviation is used,  Turbo Tax auto fills the state with the full state name, i.e. South Dakota, does not allow one to key in SD.

Same here. I was told I had to file by mail because of some hardcopy form I had to file. I finished everything for the Federal 1040 through review and printing. But I have to make a change on one form that will affect my taxes due, and I can't find my way to revise the return before filing by mail. Tax Home page says both "Filed" and "Ready to mail." I tried the Add a State idea mentioned in other responses but that didn't give me access to the Federal return AFAICT.  Telephone support suggested filing an Amended return which I clicked on BUT this is a really awful solution: deliberately file the bad return, then at some point (waiting period?) file the amendment. That seem like a formula for getting tangled up with the IRS, and in any case it's a burdensome workaround for what should be a simple "reset my Ready to Mail" status!   HELP!

For 2025, specific equipment items do not have individual QMIDs, you only need to enter the 4-letter QMID for the manufacturer.  Call the manufacturer, check their web site, or check this link (but I can't guarantee third part links are correct). https://rebate.blue/qmid   If your manufacturer did not enroll with the IRS and did not get a QMID, you can't claim the credit.

Hello, My income is from a pension from another country (I received a fixed amount from the government every month) I dont receive any Form from the US. Is that ok to report it using a 1099-substitute and if so should I use the gross distribution as a Taxable Income? Turbo Tax is asking how much RMD were due by Dec. 31, 2025 should I say zero.   Also my husband and I are over 87year old. Is there anything new this year for older people that should be claiming.   Thanks,

If you entered each state and interest amount manually, and your 1099-INT shows these totaled under state MX, you did you choose your non-taxable state from the dropdown list?  If so, you could enter the total under that state, since you're not filing in the other states, or change it to another state code, as you suggested.    If you also entered the address of your bank, make sure that there's no indication of a foreign location. If you previously tried to import your 1099-INT, it may be an error related to that.    You may want to delete the 1099-INT and re-enter.      @Ediepie

You should get a refund from the employer in the amount of the reduction in the box 4 and box 6 taxes.   Otherwise, the rest is good to go.  Whatever was withheld for federal and state taxes (box 2 and 17) is already credited to your account with the IRS and the state.  When you file your tax return, because your wages are lower (box 1 and 16), your tax calculation will be lower.  Since you have more money to your credit from withholding, you will either get a larger refund or owe less than otherwise.   Your income tax owed to the government is based on your box 1 and box 16 wages only, plus any other income, deductions and credits.  Once the tax amount is calculated, Turbotax looks at your payments and withholding.  If your payments and withholding are more than your tax, you get the difference as a refund.  If more is withheld, there is more to get back.

While FL does not have state tax, it does have sales taxes that could be applicable.  If your property is long term residential rental, lease usually over 6 months, it is exempt from sales tax. If your property is a short term residential, you rent out your property for periods of 6 months or less (like a vacation rental), you must collect the general sales tax (6%)  plus any local tax and file that return. If your rental property is a commercial building there is a state sales tax.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS and State release your refund.    The Georgia Department of Revenue website gives a date range of when you can expect to receive your refund. Most refunds are deposited within the allotted timeframe.    GA Check my Refund Status

For the last ten days I've been getting an error message "Something unexpected happened. Try again in a few hours. (101)". I've used Firefox, Edge and Chrome with the same results. Chrome local access for Intuit is turned on, although before turning it on the newer version of Chrome is set by default to ask before allowing access -- I've not been asked.

I have found one simple solution to the 5695 bug but it may not work in all cases. Yesterday I updated TurboTax but when I tried to file my tax hit the loop that kept failing to fix the 5695 bug. Frustrated, I went back and looked carefully at the Forms version, then went back to see what energy benefits I had. I found nothing since I received rebate in 2023 for a heat pump installed in 2022. I looked back at Form 5695 and saw that all but two of the YES/NO options were marked NO. I read the two YES cases, realized they did not apply to me, and marked them NO, so everything on the form was NO. When I went back look at the Forms, I saw the RED ERROR mark by Form 5695 had vanished. I went back to TurboTax and this time I was able to work all the way through electronic filing for both federal and state. I was amazed. Both federal and state filings have now been approved by the IRS and state tax office. This worked for me, and it may work for you. There may be multiple problems, so it may not work for everyone.
