I have the same problem. I can't move forward unless I select 2020 or 2021 and I did NOT have a PPP loan. Please fix this bug so we can move forward to file our tax return. Thank you.

Here are the three things that other users have used to bypass this specific error:
Strangely, this often affects the selection but not the scrolling.
Click into the Month dropdown box.
Do not try to click on 09–12 with your mouse cursor.
Instead, use the physical scroll wheel on your mouse (or swipe with two fingers on a laptop trackpad) to scroll down to the correct month.
Once the correct month is highlighted, press the Enter key on your keyboard rather than clicking it.
The mouse click is often what triggers the the error in the field.
Click into the Credit Card Number field.
Use the Tab key on your keyboard to jump to the Expiration Month field.
Immediately type the two digits (e.g., 11) without using your mouse at all.
Tab again to move to the Year field.
If you are using the online version, this is often caused by a "script error" in your browser's cached data.
Open a New Incognito Window.
Log back into TurboTax and go straight to the payment screen.
Often, the "fresh" session in Incognito will allow the dropdown to function properly.

Thank you! This is what I thought! I used to do some light accounting decades ago.... I actually had a phone appt with a Turbo expert, and while waiting for the appointment which was made for a few days from the time I made the appt, I used the feature 'speak to an assistant' through Turbo. A PHD called me back, who told me that he teaches economics, sent me a text of one of his nine books (I kid you not). told us to do what I asked about! He said he files about 120 tax files a year for people, and to give him a good review. The only reason I had called in the first place is because I didn't want to have to do all of the sub contractor forms myself ( I am 64, and not as sharp as I used to be), manually for 2024, since it is too late to file online for that tax year. It just did not make sense to me that it would be reported without having to pay into FICA, etc. Thank God I have a small amount of knowledge, and questioned this man's advice! You are a life saver, thank you again!!

It's a known problem and they say it will not be resolved until after Feb 13th and you can refile then. Be sure that your newly installed equipment is the highest CEE rated for 2025 otherwise it will not qualify for the credit. I had a new gas furnace installed but it was CEE Tier 2 AFUE 96.1 and even though it qualified for a rebate from the State it didn't meet the qualifications for Federal Tax credit which on Gas furnace requires CEE Tier 3 AFUE of 97. You can download AHRI Certificates for al your equipment from https://ahridirectory.org/ and it will have all the pertinent information on the certificate. Pay attention to the line POTENTIAL FOR IRA TAX CREDIT: If it says NO you are out of luck...equipment doesn't qualify. You will need proof of equipment eligibility and cost and depending on how they resolve this issue paper filing might still be required unless they come up with a way to attach this supporting documentation to your Efiled return.

I got a similar message for my rejected return, using the downloaded Turbotax on a Mac, in this case for a new furnace: "If Form 5695, [ 'MostExpnsFrncHotWtrBlrCostAmt' in 'FrncHotWtrBlrGrp' from 'EgyEffcntHmImprvCrGrp' ] has a non-zero value, then [ 'MostExpnsFrncHotWtrBlrQMID' in 'FrncHotWtrBlrGrp' from 'EgyEffcntHmImprvCrGrp' ] must be present unless a binary attachment or [GeneralDependencySmall] with description beginning with "Substantiate QMID" is present in the return. This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on February 13, 2026..." The QMID that I entered and is viewable on form 5695 is correct for a Goodman furnace, I7Q6. Turbotax did not report any error during review. This seems to be a Turbotax error, not an IRS error, as other people in this thread have reported that they were successful when filing with Free Tax USA

The TSP's Distributions pamphlet (https://www.tsp.gov/publications/tspbk25.pdf) clearly states on page 6: If you have both traditional and Roth money in your account and are leaving some money in your account, you can specify that your distribution should come only from your traditional money, only from your Roth money, or pro rata. For tax purposes, how the TSP accomplishes the particular distribution from the various investments in the traditional or Roth account is irrelevant.

There were no pencil or trash can icons. I have now gone in via the forms versions and entered some info and now when I go back into the "Review your 1099-R summary" page the icons now appear and are working. I ran into the same issues with the "Your charities and donations" page. Since I manually entered data into the forms the icons are magically appearing so I can finish things. Odd, but having worked in the software world for years I know things don't always work the way they should.

Line 16 generally comes from the tax table and a worksheet that includes other taxes you may be subject to. If you had any other special tax situations, or taxes such as capital gains which are taxed at different rates, you may see that in there as well. Some other taxes that would be added in include:
Schedule D Tax worksheet
Qualified Dividends and Capital Gains
Schedule J
Form 8615- if the Kiddie tax applies
Foreign Earned Income Tax
Which version of TurboTax are you using? If you are using the Desktop version, you can go to forms mode, then right click and select data source. This will show you where all the numbers are coming from.
If you are using the online version, you can view all of your forms in the print center. Look for your smart tax worksheet. This will tell you what all went into the calculations for line 16.

I puchased the turbbotax online version for tax year 2025, but did not realize that it did not have the forms included in the online version. I now have a new computer with Windows 11 and want the desktop version of Turbotax deluxe that has not only the forms included, but itsable to do schedule B, D and E of my tax return. How do I go about getting this and do I get a credit for the online version that I purchased?

Yeah, but I don't think you're going to find another income tax preparation software company that has any better customer service. You're pretty much on your own with DIY developers.

My employer notified me mid-year that our FSA dependent care plan had failed the non-discrimination test. By that time, I had contributed $2900 to the plan. The notice said I could deduct only $850 and they would add the amount disallowed ($2,050) back into my taxable income as "imputed" income. Last month, I received my W-2 form that has $2,900 in box 10, and the disallowed amount (about $2,050) in Box 14, listed as "IMP" (imputed). I don’t see an exception in the dropdown box for disallowed FSA dependent care benefits. The W-2 in effect overstates my FSA deduction, and almost wipes out my dependent care credit. How can I get Turbo Tax to understand that only $850 of that $2,900 FSA payment is non-taxable so I can get a larger dependent care credit and accurately report my use of the FSA plan? I tested the amount of the credit I should get by changing Box 10 of my W-2 to $850 (which I know is not the permitted way to fix this). I then changed Box 10 back to reflect my actual W-2 and entered the disallowed amount from Box 14 on the Turbo Tax W-2 form under additional information, Dependent Care Benefits, item 6 ("amounts forfeited from a flexible spending account"). The amount of credit I get for dependent care expenses and my overall tax is the same under this second approach as if I my W2 Box 10 accurately reflected only an $850 FSA contribution. I don't think this is really a "forfeiture" because I was able to use the money from the plan to pay for dependent care. It just was not non-taxable. Is it okay to use this "forfeiture" approach to correct the problem? If not, how should I account for the disallowance of the $2,050 in non-taxable benefits?

Turbo Tax 2025 will not download my tax information from Vanguard. Turbo Tax said the information would be available on 1/29/26 As of 2/2/26 nothing happens when I try to download the data. Any idea how I can get my info into Turbo Tax without manually inputting it?
