Why would most Turbo Tax users select SBTPG to pay additional fees when processing their refund? In most cases SBTPG is a scam. After many years, I'm done with Turbo Tax.

If you already Efiled and your return was Accepted, check your PDF copy of your return. The first page 'Filing Instructions' will tell you if you actually need to mail anything, and if so, where to send it.
It is rare to have to mail additional forms, except possibly if you used the Summary Method for reporting stock transactions. In that case, you may need to mail Form 8949 and a copy of your 1099-B.

Turbotax is pre-filling the entry with the annual amount x 0.9235
So, likely, the first three periods need to be entered multiplied by 0.9235 as well.

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction. If you are Single and your AGI is over $175,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.
If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.
Standard deductions for 2025
Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older
New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b
Look at your Form 1040 -
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

@TurboTaxOnlinesuxs wrote: I will not be getting TT next year because of this underhanded tactic to force people to the online version (which is awful btw). Stop defending them. I am NOT defending Intuit nor do I ever intend to do so. I am, and have been, trying to point out that other income tax prep providers could stop supporting Windows 10 for the 2026 tax year and likely will. There are many who have complained and continue to complain about this TurboTax issue on this board, but it really does absolutely no good as Intuit doesn't care (as I have also pointed out ad nauseum). So, again, I'm NOT defending Intuit on this and, frankly, I think it was not a great move for them to stop supporting Windows 10 for 2025 (2026 will be a different matter for everyone, though).

I used Turbo Tax for my very simple federal income taxes (my state doesn't have an income tax). I had only one option for paying and it was $230. I owed the government $172. The wording was very ambiguous and seemed to say my federal taxes were part of the order summary. They were not. I was charged more than I actually owed! I feel like I was duped into paying more than was necessary. I'd like a refund or a reduction.

I also have exact same message from Turbo Tax (Deluxe) on the screen just after successfully e-filing both Federal and State returns - and then selecting the "Continue" button. Married, filing jointly, standard deductions... There are NO errors and I do NOT get an error message. This is the exact text from the screen: Print and Mail these Forms to the Government Even though you e-filed, you're still required to print and mail these forms. Don't skip this important step! Your return isn't complete without it. Explain This. When I click on "Explain This", I am brought to this forum obviously this is Turbo Tax programing problem.. I did a screen grab and am posting it with this

I called the 800 number with a question and when the call was picked up, nobody said anything to me or acknowledged the phone call. There was just a lot of noise in the background. I hollered "Hello!" and then something like "Hello, speak to ME!" and the background noise just continued. It was apparently a very bad work-from-home experience where the rep was not working. I want Turbo Tax supervisors to pull the call and listen to it. It was bad. I can provide date and approximate time of the call if TT contacts me privately.

Go back to the federal section and put some assets under you wife alone. The IRS and state won't care since it is joint but the program will care and allow you to claim the 529 deductions.
