Looking for answer to similar question. I opened Roth in 2005 and had not touched it until 2025 and closed the account. The 1099R is saying J (early withdrawal) which is correct. I am only 48 and everything I know says it is taxable but the 1040 thru Turbo Tax says no. I would love for TT to be correct. Any advice? If I change the J to 7 it is fully taxable

Stock Options are sales in tax terms so they would be part of the capital gain (or loss) which is part of line 5, PA-40 (Form 1099-B).
The only capital gains on line 3, PA-40, would be capital gains distributions included on the 1099-DIV.
This should help as you review the numbers and I agree that TurboTax will bring the appropriate numbers to the PA-40 since the tax law has not changed in many years.

Are you using the Desktop program? Did you install the program on her computer? Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and license codes are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again here, https://accounts.intuit.com/app/account-manager/productsBilling/turbotax After you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN You might need to start a new fake return for your existing returns to show up. To open your current return on the new computer you need to copy the data file ending in .tax2025 from the old computer or from your backup. On Windows it should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax subfolder. Or search your whole computer for all files ending in .tax or .tax205. Copy it to your Documents on the new computer. See this article on how to move your tax return to another computer……. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-data-file/help/how-do-i-move-my-tax-data-file-to-another-computer/00/26128

I am assuming you mean form 1041, not 1031. You should receive a K-1 from the trust. You will need to enter it onto your return.
It depends on what type of money you are getting. If the money is the original money that was put into the trust, it is not considered taxable income. If it is interest or earnings on the money that was put in the trust then yes, that is considered taxable income.
Depending on the amount of earnings you received from the trust, your SS may or may not be taxable. The percentage of social security that is taxable depends on your Combined Income. Combined income is your AGI + Non Taxable Interest + 1/2 of your social security benefits. If this combined total is greater than $25,000, then at least 50% of your social security benefits will be taxable. The maximum amount of your ss benefits that can be taxable is 85%.
Also, depending on the amount of your earnings and taxable social security, you may or may not have to file a return. Say for instance, your K-1 reported $1,000 and your social security is $20,000. You would not need to file a return due to having taxable income under the standard deduction.
Taxability of Social Security & SSDI
General Rule: Social Security benefits are not fully taxed. Depending on your "combined income," up to 85% of your benefits may be taxable.
SSDI Treatment: SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) benefits are treated exactly the same as regular Social Security benefits for tax purposes.
Thresholds for 85% Taxable:
Single: Combined income above $34,000.
Married Filing Jointly: Combined income above $44,000.
Married Filing Separate: Benefits are taxable at 85% regardless of income level.
Thresholds for 50% Taxable:
Single: Combined income between $25,000 and $34,000.
Married Filing Jointly: Combined income between $32,000 and $44,000.
Calculation Formula: "Combined Income" is calculated as your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) + Nontaxable Interest + 1/2 of your Social Security Benefits.

You posted your question from online TurboTax. No need to "transfer" anything if you are using online. Your spouse just needs to use the same account and user ID that you have been using if you are preparing your return with online.
If you have been using desktop download, then she needs the download on her computer and you will need to put the tax file on a device like a flash drive to put the return on her computer.
