Susan - Thank you for your help with this.  While I appreciate your help and initiative this has been a terrible experience with Turbo Tax.  I pointed out this error in the software many weeks ago and have wasted time on several phone calls (before the one with you) and emails (including one sent directly to Mikey Jordan, a former colleague who works at Turbo Tax) to have the error fixed; if I did not challenge this it would have resulted in unnecessary taxes paid of over $1,000!!  Turbo Tax has used various excuses to justify the program.  One representative explained that the issue was caused by different SALT limitations for South Carolina, another tried to explain it away by saying that it is because South Carolina does not conform to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (which it does not).  The email that was sent to Mikey was not responded to - it was ignored!  None of those explanations were true.  Nothing has changed with the South Carolina Income Tax laws to trigger the "update" that you mention in your reply.  Plain and simple this was sloppy programming from Intuit / Turbo Tax.  I am a retired CPA from the tax department of a Big 4 CPA firm.  Clients trust Turbo Tax to provide them with accurate calculations - Turbo Tax failed miserably in this situation and rather than acknowledge the issue and ask for time to fix it they chose to try and cover it up.  I'll be spreading the word to use anything but Turbo Tax in the future.

If you have both an HDHP and Medicare Part A, you must not contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA).    While you can keep your HDHP and use Medicare as secondary coverage, the IRS considers Medicare "disqualifying coverage" for the purpose of HSA tax advantages.    However, you can still spend the existing funds in your HSA tax-free for medical expenses.
There's no template in TurboTax Business for a 1099-R. You need to enter it manually and one line at a time.   The amount in Box 2a generally is reported as "Other income".
I paid for it somehow and I wanted to remove from my cart but I didn't

You can never have a refund on one pay the tax due on the other.  Federal and state are completely separate and go or come from different places.   Better check the federal cover sheet and see how you are suppose to pay a federal tax due.   Yes I would pay the IRS right away.    This applies to federal also, See,  Can I pay my state taxes from my federal refund?
If you can get into Forms Mode, look at your 28% Rate Gain Worksheet.
Absolutely correct.  I have the same error.  Weeks later it is still not fixed. Clearly a bug - it is completely unclear what STDLIAB means or how to go about fixing it.

It is not possible to file an extension electronically using the desktop version.  The only option is to print form and mail it.  You need to use the online version to file extension electronically -- and this pisses off desktop users like me.  We need to file with the online version then manually tell the desktop version what we did.

You must have misunderstood something.  A current tax refund can Never be used to pay a current year's taxes owed. You still will owe federal taxes and they need to be paid on or before April 15, 2026 to avoid penalties and interest. Go to this IRS payment website to pay the 2025 taxes owed - https://www.irs.gov/payments
Exactly - absolutely terrible bug- no reasonable way to know what's causing it. Months later, it is still not fixed.
