Yes, your 18 year old can be claimed as a qualifying child dependent. Since he has over $400 of self-employment income, he is required to file a return himself and pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare. He must say on his own return that he can be claimed as someone else's dependent.
The Premium TurboTax online software is expensive----you might want to use some other free tax software for him
Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free. There are 8 free software versions available from the IRS Free File site

I have a single-member llc that elected S-corporation status. I need to revoke the S-corp election and be treated as a disregarded entity (Schedule C) going forward, effective January 1, 2026. I am trying to e-file Form 1120-S using TurboTax Business (desktop version), but I cannot find an option to attach Form 8832. Does this mean Form 8832 must be filed manually? If so, can I e-file Form 1120-S first and, once it is accepted, mail Form 8832 separately? In addition, do I need to mark the return as a “Final return” on Form 1120-S? Form 8832 specifies the new entity classification after revoking S-corp status, so I am unsure whether the “Final return” box should be selected on Form 1120-S. If yes, how do I do this in TurboTax Business? On page 1 of Form 1120-S, Section H includes several checkboxes (Final return, Name change, Address change, Amended return, S election termination). In my case, should I select “Final return” or “S election termination,” and how is this handled within the TurboTax Business software?

Maine now has its own PFML program and MEPFML is now included in box 14 on W2s for those of us working in Maine. TurboTax has other states listed for the Category, but not Maine. I have selected "Other (not classified)" but I'm not sure how TurboTax is going to handle this during calculations. Any idea when TurboTax will be updated to handle this correctly? I'm using the desktop 2025 TurboTax Deluxe, myself. Thanks!

Greetings, RE: TT Home and Biz 2025 Mac OS, desktop version. In the home office deduction section the "Excess Real Estate Taxes" and "Excess Mortgage Insurance" sections have me confused. Regarding my personal taxes, I do not itemize. I do have a home office though so I'm confused as to whether I should enter the mortgage interest and mortgage insurance amounts in the "excess" interview section. Any help or links would be appreciated. Thanks!
