Yea, am with you, have been with them for about as long and am really disappointed with this issue and the companies response.
The "security code" is provided by my Symantec fob. When I imported from Charles Schwab which also uses a security code , the login went fine. Why would ETRADE be different ?

I needed to estimate my taxes to be sure I paid enough in but that is not possible anymore with this product. Last year for me with them after after about 30 years. I'm done.

Yes, but keep in mind, there are two different pins used during filing, and not everyone needs both.  The IP (Identity Protection) pin is six (6) digits and issued by the IRS to individuals that have been a victim of identity theft or by if it was requested by an individual.   Most people do not have an IP Pin.   If you don't, you can answer NO on the IP pin question and proceed to filing.      If you do have an IP pin - you can only retrieve it from the IRS.  We can't issue IP PINs and you won't find them on your tax paperwork. You can only get IP PINs from the IRS.   The other pin is the Self-Select pin (5 digits) that you create each year when you file.   You can create any 5 digit number to file and only you know this number.   If you are trying to e-file, you need EITHER last year's AGI or last year's Self-Select pin you created to file.   So you don't need both numbers, only one or the other to e-file this year's return.   IRS - retrieve your IP pin    Self-Select pin vs.  IP pin

The H&R Block update is due Friday as well. Wait and see if they follow through.

TurboTax emails me daily urging me to login and work on my taxes.  Evidently they don't know I’d love to finish my taxes however their product isn’t operational for me.  I can’t submit a 1099-R income form with TurboTax because it's not able to perform that task yet. You know email is an asynchronous form of communication meaning we both don't have to talk in real time.  Where as the telephone requires synchronous communication.  Why is it preferable for Turbotax to communicate asynchronously with me but prohibits me from doing the same with them?  It's frustrating.

VolvoGirl, you should remove this troubleshooting solution, it does not solve the activation bug and is not helpful.

The fact that they still don't have the update, that it won't be available until the day that IRS is accepting returns just seems to make the program worthless. I've used TurboTax for over ten years and never had this problem. When I did a search online Chrome AI suggested that I go to 'Forms' and fill it in manually. Guess What, it worked. Makes you wonder if using a cheaper, other named provider might be worth it.  I'm retired, everything is paid off, standard deductions only, Why pay the 50 dollars each year?

next couple of days - per Intuit rep in this forum - "We understand this should be in an update late Friday afternoon. ".  It's apparently open for online users, desktop users are waiting for the s/w update at this point so sometime in next day or so I would think.  Many threads on this in this forum - see   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/when-will-turbotax-2025-be-ready/00/3729105
