They did not give me any estimate. I was on the phone for over an hour and frankly they appeared to disregard the issue. The representative bluntly suggested that I should take the issue to the forums. I was dissatisfied due to the fact that it is very easy to look up this guidance, and at the time the guidance was issued it actually made headline news. I provided the exact same IRS documents to TurboTax/Intuit but they appear to not be taking it seriously. They do not issue a ticket that can be tracked for the issue so there is no follow up mechanism for the consumer. I hope they implement a fix quickly. Even ChatGPT is able to acknowledge the IRS guidance reference and concludes that the tax credit is applicable if a binding contract with payment happened before 9/30/2025 and the vehicle was placed in service after 9/30/2025. One interesting nuance is in form 8936 it doesn’t even have a date field, so it appears TurboTax is using internal logic not reported on the form, and their internal logic appears incomplete because it does not account for the IRS guidance.

@wirsme If it's a pension that you receive regularaly...it still has an RMD, but the Issuer has already pre-figured the proper amount according to IRS rules...and what they send you is the RMD, and all of it is the RMD. TTX starts asking that of any 1099-R once you reach age 73. Usually, it's just IRAs and 401k/TSP's that you have to worry about since you control how much and when the $$ are withdrawn.

On behalf of my minor child. I filed using Turbo Tax for him last year - he's 15 but had self employment income (mowing lawns) of around $700 and ROTH Ira contributions of around $500. When I try to do his 2025 taxes, Turbo Tax says it can't find his 2024 return to transfer info over. Yet, I can clearly see and even download the 2024 1040 in his account. I also can see that payment I made to Intuit last year and the payment he made to the IRS for taxes. So - what's the deal here? Any idea why Turbo Tax can't find it, but I can clearly see it in his account?

Same issue here, the Step-by-Step is not available yet. I was able to go into the Forms tab and enter the information into Form 5695. It gave me an idea of what my credit will be.

@Koshinsr (1099-R on the Wages&Income page) 99% of us can enter that data now. Of course, if you are expecting to import your 1099-R, that really depends on whether you 1099-R provider partners with TTX and creates special 1099-R data files that alow importing. Three of my 1099-R providers, will only provide paper copies...and no importing of the datafile. Even so, I've already typed in two of my 1099-R, and still waiting for one that only provides mail copies (No Online access to a PDF...luddites). So, look for the menu item for 1099-R entries in the Retirement section on the Wages&Income page.

If you have only worked in Florida, why did you mention Georgia? Are you being asked to file a Georgia state tax return? Did you have Georgia state income taxes withheld on your W-2?
Why are you asking about GA? Do you live in GA? If so, you must prepare and file a GA tax return.

Once the tax return has been filed the option for a refund advance is no longer available.

Since you are older than 59 1/2 there are no penalties for a distribution from an IRA. You still must pay taxes on the amount withdrawn if the funds were tax free when contributed to the IRA.

@meclayton I guess it depends on what you expect to see & where you are looking. The only $$ that should transfer, are any $$ that might affect this year's tax filing. Thus the majority of $$ form 2024 don't show in this year's file. Now, in the Desktop Menu pages, those do show $#s form last year in a 2024 column, but ~95% aren't used in the 2025 filing. If you don't see the 2024 numbers on the Menu selection pages, make sure you started your 2025 file by transferring in a .tax2024 datafile (a 2024 PDF transfer won't do much of anything).
