And....what tax years are those W-2's for?   Employers will not be issuing W-2's for 2025 until sometime in January.   Do you mean you have some W-2's from past years?  What years?      If you have W-2's from past years, you will need to use local paid tax help or if you want to use TurboTax, you need the software for the correct years.   Each tax year has to be filed separately using the forms for the specific tax year.  They cannot be combined in any way--do not even put them in the same envelope when you mail them.  Software for past years is available back to 2022.  Any earlier years can only be prepared on paper forms by hand--and those refunds have been forfeited now. Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and  2024 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

@_John__ wrote: I'm 100% certain the 1099 from last year was on a fiscal basis, even if that is not correct.  The 1099 excludes revenue earned in Dec 2024 and matches the short year leading up to it. The IRS requires 1099s to be issued on a calendar year basis and include revenue that is actually paid (and that's regardless of whether the taxpayer is an accrual or cash-basis taxpayer).   Thus, is it possible that the revenue earned in December was not paid until the following year (January)? That would make your 1099 correct,

If you answered incorrectly in MY INFO when it asked if someone else can claim you as a dependent, then when you amend you will need to go to MY INFO and change the way you answered that question and say YES that someone else can claim you.   As for your parents, if your incorrect tax return prevented them from e-filing, they have no other choice now except to file their return by mail.   E-filing for 2024 is permanently closed.  Your amended return must be filed by mail.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US?uid=m76mq6z2    Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.     You can watch for information here: https://www.irs.gov/Filing/Individuals/Amended-Returns-(Form-1040-X)/Wheres-My-Amended-Return-1

It's too late now. Last date to download was last month.
I want to purchase the desktop version for mac, but I can't tell if it has been updated or if it is still the 2024 version.

Thank you! Like dminches, I have developed my own spreadsheet.  So, I put my numbers into this calculator and have validated my spreadsheet.  I will definitely use this.  Thank you for sharing!
I found out the issue shown on my 2023 return.  It did affect my property relief rebate.  I think there are a lot of NJ residents who don't know the issue

@AmeliesUncle  I'm 100% certain the 1099 from last year was on a fiscal basis, even if that is not correct.  The 1099 excludes revenue earned in Dec 2024 and matches the short year leading up to it.   I appreciate the advice of a tax professional, but I'm the DIY type.  I'd add that I have enough accounting credits to sit for the CPA, but that's stale and doesn't translate to unique situations.   My plan is to move to a calendar year basis, which would align with the members' personal filings: Use the incorrect 1099 ending Nov 2025 to file a full fiscal year (2024 1065) ending Nov 2025 by 2/15/2026, producing K1s File form 1128 with a short year of 12/1/2025 - 12/31/2025 (2025 1065) self-reporting revenue to move to a calendar year, producing K1s File personal taxes on calendar year including two K1s for the above For 2026, file 1065 adjusting the 1099 to remove Dec of the prior calendar year and adding Dec of the current calendar year As far as the depreciation goes, I'll continue to use the / 27.5 years / 12 months * # of months for a straight-line mid-month methodology and if TT doesn't calculate correctly, I will override.   Thank you for all the advice!
