If you are looking at a summary screen or review screen those show the full amount as income and lump a lot of stuff together. You need to check the actual 1040 form and make sure it's right. Check lines 4b & 5b for any taxable amounts. For a rollover line b should be zero or just any taxable amount and for 2025 there is a new box 1 (under the Gross amount) that will be checked for Rollover. Did it ask you what y ou did with it? You need to say you moved it to another account. It might have asked if it was to a ROTH IRA. You should say no to that. Go back and edit the 1099R. Edit a 1099R under Federal Taxes Wages & Income Then scroll way down to Retirement Plans and Social Security Then IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) – Click Update or Revisit IMPORTANT: FYI - One thing to know is if you go back to edit or view a 1099R entry it resets all the answers to the default and you need to go though ALL the questions again all the way to the very end of the retirement section, keep continuing. They are right unless you go back.

Why is Turbo Tax telling me I have to file via mail return if I have 2 or more Form 2106? I have been able to do e-file with 2 or more forms in years past.

I follow the 2-step process that TT suggested. What I check in tools 4a shows the amount but 4b is not 0.

It appears that the qualifying questions weren't answered correctly, as indicated by the screenshot you submitted. Perhaps they weren't asked to begin with. Here is how to begin your amendment and then navigate to the qualifying questions.
Log In: Sign in to the same TurboTax account you used to file your original 2025 return.
Access Your Return: On the Tax Home screen, scroll down to the section titled "Your tax returns & documents."
Find 2025 and select Amend (change) return.
Click on Amend using TurboTax Online.
TurboTax will ask why you are amending. Since the IRS already adjusted your return, select the option: "The IRS or state sent me a notice" or "I need to change a form."
Go to Federal> Deductions & Credits.
Go to Your Home>Home Energy Credits select update or revisit
After you enter the report that you have an energy credit or carryover, say yes press continue to the next screen.
Select No this home is mine in the next screen. press continue
Next screen, indicate the home is in the US. This will satisfy Line 17a on the form you are showing.
Now review all the information you entered, including the address for the form.
Continue until you reach a screen that says Tell us more about the residential energy property. Here, mark all these with a yes answer.
Now finish out the section.
Now continue through until you see a screen that says Good news! You qualify for a home energy credit of $XXX...
Once you are done with the amendment, you should be able to efile it if you efiled your original return. You shouldn't need to print and mail it as you were originally advised. Your should print it however, just to have a record of it.
Note: If your credits are claimed for qualified energy efficiency improvements in 2025 like windows or doors, as you progress through the interview, you will be asked a question Are the energy-efficient improvements reasonably expected to remain in use for 5 years? Make sure you say "yes" to this question. This is the only area where you will be asked this question and will record your answer in 17C of your return. It isn't asked unless you reported that you made energy efficiency improvements.

Did the NM medical exemptions eligibility change this year? We are now non-residents, but one spouse consults periodically in NM, and thus generates NM income. We used to be able to deduct our Long Term Care premiums, and now that we are over 65, our Medicaid Part B premiums. Instructions for PIT-ADJ implies that these are still available, but the number I entered was rejected for being greater than an amount that I can't find explained anywhere. Similarly, the net capital gains deduction used to be 50% of the total, now it appears to be "up to" a specific amount that I also can't find explained.

It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. For Single the deduction starts to phase out at 75,000 and maxes out at 175,000 For Joint the deductions starts to phase out at 150,000 and maxes out at 250,000 If you are married you have to file a Joint return
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160 What do you have on 1040 or 1040SR line 13b? See the 1040 ….

Just so you know - the exact question is: For the years Jxxx received these distributions, was the total amount shown in the form the amount you paid tax on? (This is the misleading part - it says "total amount" but not clearly whether that is referring to Box #1 or Box #2a) ...However, I followed the instructions, deleted this 1099-R, re-entered it, and answered 'yes' to this mis-leading question. Great - no Simplified Method loop. Note - the summary screen still shows 1-Gross Distribution on that page (with full amounts), and on the easy step form same thing- it shows the full amount. So that is a bit scary. But - I checked the 1040 form directly - and you are right - it is using the correct field (2a) on the 1040 form itself. I do hope TurboTax puts it back the right way in future releases. Showing the gross distribution on the summary screen and the easy step form is not right. Thanks!

The senior deduction is a separate deduction from your standard deduction, and pulls into your 1040 on a different line (Line 13b) from a different form. It is usually $6,000 for each taxpayer above age 65.
In your tax return viewable PDF copy, search for a form titled Schedule 1-A Additional Deductions. The total on Schedule 1-A Line 37 is your enhanced senior deduction for the year. The sum of these additional deductions (on Line 38) should flow to Line 13b on your federal Form 1040 or 1040-SR.
To see or print a PDF of your tax return, select your product and follow the instructions.
TurboTax Online
Open or continue your return.
Select Continue or Start on Tax Home to enter your return.
Select Tax Tools from the menu.
Select Print Center, choose Print, save, or preview this year's return, and follow the instructions.
If you haven't yet paid your TurboTax Online fee (or registered, if you're using a free version), you'll need to do so before you can save the PDF.
TurboTax Desktop
Open or continue your return.
Select File.
Select Print/Save for Your Records.
Choose to either Save As PDF or Preview Print Copy.
