Marilyn Thanks for your response, but it's not helpful. I store my tax returns and the software on my laptop. While the 2024 turbo tax product is still on the hard drive, it's a blank slate and the PDF I created of my 2024 returns is GONE.  Which meant i had to recreate 2025 as a new customer.  I see by the comments of other users that this is not a one of problem, so possibly your IT group could chime in and explain to us how our tax returns from 2024 magically disappeared.  I worked in the computer industry for 25 years and this is a first for me. The files are simply NOT THERE as if they were never created with is just NOT TRUE.  I don't have the time or inclination to go through this every year, so please ask IT to do their magic and send me a link to last years return so I can safely store it again. Thankfully, I still create a hard copy so I could get my return done. And for those of you who are reading this and haven't started your return, you won't be able to electronically file your taxes unless you have a hard copy of your 2024 return because the NEW step is to report your actual Adjusted Gross Income.  No guessing or the IRS will bump it back. I suspect this NEW step is because of identity theft. If you have your 2024 hard copy, the AGI is right on the front page summary close to the bottom. Sue

If you are looking at a message from TurboTax, that is only an estimated based on the IRS average of issuing a tax refund within 21 days after receiving the tax return.   Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.    If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Marilyn, thank you for your excellent reply.  As stated, we sold the rental in Dec 2024 on Installment sale (lien for 10 year; we are the "bank"--all done thru an attorney, etc).  We received NO PAYMENTS on the rental house sale in 2024 (payments began in 2025). I did list the sale as an "installment", and we did use straight line depreciation on the 2024 return.  In reviewing our 2024 return, Turbo Tax did generate forms 4797 and 6252.  But on lines 31 and 32 of form 4797, TT listed "0" as gains. (The numbers I recorded in lines 21-25B are all correct on Form 4797).  Thus, line 12 on Form 6252 is also marked "O" on the 2024 return.  Could these "0" entries be due to the fact that we received no payments on the lien in 2024? I am completing our 2025 tax return now, and I've got the installment sale data (principal + interest) all properly documented.  By the way, our AGI is < 35K- we are in a very low tax bracket, so I've noted that capital gains will be negligible...but I"m still worried about the depreciation recapture (which is about 114K total).    Thank you!

Thank you for sending. In your thread, scenario B is applicable to my situation, except I haven't received incorrect 1095-A form/s and the prescribed answer doesn't directly explain the problem with TurboTax flagging my entries and seems to imply that I would create a combined/summed fake 1095-A and enter it only. I'm not satisfied with that answer and would like a better explanation. I note that I can click through the error flagging and it is not preventing me from completing my return (though I have yet to e-file).

Thank you for your response and I remember that to be true in the past, however Turbotax has changed and your response no longer works once you've gotten through your taxes.  This has been my biggest frustration with Turbotax.  There are no basic instructions on how to use it or the tools.  I was able to find the answer using Gemini.  That app pointed me to the search ability in the "tools" pulldown.  I was able to type it in the search bar and it brought me to that section.

@ Warrentonvilla3636 wrote:  Where's my return should of posted to my account last thursday I need live help   Where did you get that date?  If that's what TurboTax presented, it's an estimate based on the common "within  21-days" processing time for most returns.  Some returns are processed faster, while some take a longer amount of time.  What message is displayed at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?  https://www.irs.gov/refunds   And once your refund is released by the IRS, is it supposed to come directly from the IRS to your bank account (or card), or did you choose an option that uses a third-party bank to first receive the funds, such as "pay fees out of refund," or "up to 5 days early" offer, or Refund Advance, etc.?

@derail7245-addison    Two possibilities that I can think of:   1)  Perhaps you indicated that you were someone else's dependent.  In that situation your SDed is limited to the value of your Earned Income+$450.   Essentially, that wipes out most/all of your Taxable Income....though some may remain if you have some unearned income too (Like interest, dividends, capital gains)   or 2)  You are married but filing separately from your Spouse  (MFS).  In that case, you may have indicated that your Spouse is filing his/her taxes using "Itemized Deductions".  When spouses file MFS...they must both use the same deduction procedure......and if your spouse is Itemizing, then you must also do so even if your itemized deductions are less than the S.Ded.  SO perhaps that $7502 is your itemized deduction amount. ____________________ Not sure about talking to an expert  after already filing though.   There is a Customer Support contact procedure...mostly for working out bugs and software issues...and not available to users of the Free version.  Not sure they can help with this though.   How do I contact TurboTax?

@madhotdog55567  asked:  "Is there any way I can have my money returned til I have the proper amount to get myself enough to pay taxes?"   I'm not sure anyone will understand with certainty what that means unless you try to explain it another way.  But I'll take a chance though.  Are you referring to TurboTax fees that you paid?  Are you asking if  you can get a product refund?   If that's not it, you need to explain your situation so we don't have to keep guessing.   If it IS a product fee issue, then nothing account-specific can be handled here in the user community forum.  You would need to discuss any fees you've paid with TurboTax Customer Support, here's how to reach them.  If a robot quizzes you, say something like "billing issue."   TurboTax Support Hours 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days/week https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

You should include them as two separate home offices on your tax return instead of trying to combine them as one.   The key to getting the most of the home office deduction is making sure the percentage of time you use each office is accurate.  This means the percentage of time during the year (75% and 25% for the example you gave) as well as the percentage of time the office was used for your self-employment work.  If you used each office 100% of the time to do your work, then 75% and 25% will be the percentages entered for each office.  But, if you also had other places where you performed your work, then the office use will be less than 100% and the 75/25 split will need to be prorated further.     For example, if you only spend 50% of your working time in your home office, then office 1 percentage will be 12.5% (50% of 25), and office 2 percentage will be 37.5% (50% of 75).   It is important to pay close attention to messaging on the screen to know how to enter your expenses for each office (whether the full amount or just an amount specific to the office).  Also, remember that you will enter the expenses for each one separately, so it will seem like you are doing everything twice.   For more information and examples, take a look at the following TurboTax help article:   How do I allocate expenses for two home offices?
