If a dependent mistakenly indicated no one can claim them and causes a rejection of the parent's return, the IRS now allows the first-listed (primary) taxpayer (such as the parent) to get an IP PIN and still successfully efile and avoid having to file a return on paper. Your dependent will need to amend their return to indicate someone else is claiming them. See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.
The IP Pin will change each and every year. This is an Identity Protection Pin.
You can get an Identity Protection pin here, or if you lost your IP PIN, you can go here to Retrieve IP PIN.
Here are two ways to navigate to the section to enter the 6 digit IP PIN:
Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return")
Once the return is open, then go to the Federal Taxes tab.
Subtab Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info.
Choose Identity Protection PIN and Start (or Revisit.)
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"
Or another way:
Open your return if not already open. ("Take me to my return.")
Once the return is open, click at the top on MY ACCOUNT, then choose TOOLS.
In the Tools window choose TOPIC SEARCH.
Enter IP PIN without quotes.
In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO.
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"

This is absolutely absurd. You are supposedly the supplier of a comprehensive tax filing software. This issue has now been going on for 3+ weeks with no resolution. I've used 2 of my 5 e-file attempts; and I am concerned about trying again, and that you wont have an issue resolution on 3/13. You are then allowing us only 30 days to file a return. This is a massive injustice to those who are prepared to file and creates an unnecessary stress. It is absolutely unreasonable for the next patch to be 3/13 - this should be a Tier 1 priority as your software is effectively useless at this point. Completely unacceptable - and the shame is its clear this corporation doesn't care. For those of us impacted, which is very easy for TT to tell, we should be provided a discount for this years filing.

When you enter your income into your tax return both the TurboTax system and the IRS assume that you earned that income equally over the course of the 365 days of the year. In your case, the income that you earned all in the last three quarters was assumed to have been earned just as equally in the first quarter.
In order to fix this issue in TurboTax you need to file a form with the IRS that tells them that you earned all the money in the last three quarters. Otherwise, they have no way to know. So you need to go to the 'Other Tax Situations' of your federal return.
You have two ways to handle this right now. You can fill out a form 2210 and submit that along with a letter to the IRS in response to the penalty notice. Or you can file an amended return which includes the 2210. (It's not a bad idea to do both).
Either way you need that 2210. So tell the system that you want to amend your 2025 tax return. Then go to 'Other Tax Situations'. Scroll down to 'Additional Tax Payments' and click 'Start' next to 'Underpayment Penalties'. (If it says you have no underpayment penalties say yes to reviewing the estimated penalty topics.) Then you will go through and enter your income by quarter to show when you should have made estimated payments and how much they should have been. Because you had no income in the first quarter the form generated by this should show that you owed no estimate for the first quarter. Submitting that to the IRS should remove the penalty.
You can e-file the amended return if the system allows you. It may not because it may not register this change as enough of a change to merit an amended return. If it doesn't then you can print and mail the amended return in.
You should also print a copy of the form 2210 which will show your annualized income. You should mail that printed copy to the return address on the notice that is requesting a penalty payment from you along with a letter requesting abatement of the penalties because of the 2210 amounts.

The answers to your questions are shown below for your convenience.
a. Yes, they are the correct numbers. Form 8582 will show you the correct passive loss carryover amounts in Part VII Column (c) or VIII Column (b) for each property.
b. Enter the Unallowed Passive Loss carryovers using the instructions here: Passive Activity Loss Carryover Entry :
Assuming your passive losses were carried over each year, this will be a separate and identifiable entry which will carry to the Schedule E. The full remainder of passive loss carryover is used in the year of sale as an expense.
When you are on the screen 'Do any of these situations apply to this property?' (Property Profile section), be sure to check the box under Carryovers.
2. Yes, you can enter the HOA fees under management fees or you can select Miscellaneous Expenses and name it.
3. QBI requirements are shown below.
4. Yes, if you purchased the rental properties, and have a loan, you still enter 100% Ownership as the percentage on both properties.
Generally, a rental property does not carry the time requirements to be considered as eligible for the qualified business income deduction (QBID).
Can I get QBID for rental property income?
Generally, this means each rental real estate enterprise (a rental property or group of similar rental properties, including K-1 rental income) must satisfy these three requirements:
Each enterprise maintains its own books and records to track income and expenses.
An enterprise that has existed less than four years performs at least 250 hours of rental services per year. For an enterprise in existence for four years or more, this test needs to be met for any three of the five consecutive taxable years ending with the taxable year.
(Starting with tax year 2019) Contemporaneous records of services performed are kept which includes who performed the service, description of service, the date of the service, and how long it took (who, what, when, and how long).

Try disabling your main internet browsers pop up blocker before getting to the payment page.
The billing address on your credit card and the mailing address on your tax return have to match or you will get an error for paying with a credit card.
If they are not the same then change your mailing address to your billing address. Click on My Info on the left side of the screen. Edit you mailing address and Continue. Go back to the File section to make your payment.
After the payment has been approved, go back to My Info and change the address back to the original.
1. The "Address Match" Workaround
TurboTax’s payment processor is extremely strict. Even a small difference between your tax return address and your bank’s billing address can trigger a silent decline.
The Fix: Go to the My Info section in the left menu. Temporarily change your mailing address to match the exact billing address your bank has on file (e.g., if the bank uses "Apt 4B" but you wrote "Unit 4-B").
Try the payment again. Once it goes through, you can change your address back to your correct mailing address before you hit the final "Submit" button.
2. Switch to "Pay With My Refund"
If your debit card continues to fail, you can avoid using a card altogether by having the TurboTax fees deducted directly from your federal refund.
The Fix: In the File section, under Step 1: Review your order, look for the option to Pay with your refund (sometimes called "Refund Processing Service").
Note: There is an additional service fee for this option, but it will allow you to file immediately without needing a working debit card today.
3. Clear the "Payment Block"
Sometimes the system "locks" the payment field after too many failed attempts as a fraud prevention measure.
The Fix: Log out of TurboTax completely. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, or open an Incognito/Private window. Log back in and try one more time. This often resets the secure "handshake" between Intuit and your bank.
If you are still stuck: You can call the dedicated Billing Support line at 1-800-446-8848. Tell the agent you have a "payment block" and they can manually clear the flag on your account so your card will be accepted.

If the return is already filed, you can't change that in TurboTax anymore. The IRS will likely mail you a "CP53E notice", which will ask you to provide an electronic payment method, and you can provided the prepaid debit card info, if you have a routing and account number. If you don't respond to the notice, they will still mail a check.

Please allow me to ask you a number of questions:
1. Were either one of you 5 or over by December 31, 2025?
2. Just to confirm, the 1099-SA that you received was (1) for the anticipated excess contribution amount for 2025, and (2) had a code of '1'?
3. When you entered the 1099-SA, did you tell TurboTax that this $2,000 was all for qualified medical expenses?
I think you may have a timing issue, but I need to know what exactly you did before I can say.

I am also getting forced to Schedule C with my royalty income in TurboTax Deluxe. I have deleted my 1099 and reentered a new one several times, following the instructions of ThomasM125. It insists on making me answer the question of what type of work this is? One issue that may be a factor is that line 3 of the 1099-Misc contains an about for Other Income. Help!
