RMD not accepted

I have a 1099r which is my RMD that I took in December.  TurboTax is still charging me a penalty and not accepting it as an RMD.  I choose 7 in box 7 correctly as well as IRA/SEP/SIMPLE checked.  I am getting a form 5329t with the full amount of the RMD for both Distributed and Undistributed causing a 25% penalty on the entire RMD

To designate you took your entire RMD amount from one IRA distribution and avoid triggering the RMD penalties, do the following:

First, delete the current 1099-R entry and the Form 5329 that was generated, since it does not apply:

  1. Go to Tax Tools on the right hand panel inside of TurboTax
  2. Click on the down arrow and scroll down to Tools
  3. Click on Tools and select Delete a form from the menu items that appear in the Tool Center
  4. Click on the trash can icon to the right of the Form 1099-R that is your RMD, and also Form 5329

Once you have deleted the two entries, go back to Income to input your Form 1099-R:

  1. Return to your 1099-R entries by clicking Review to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) in the Federal Income section
  2. Click on the pencil to the right of the 1099-R from which you took your entire RMD
  3. Click Continue through the entries you've made
  4. "Let's get more information about your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)", enter the amount of your RMD (no extras) that was due by December 31, 2025Continue
  5. On the next screen, "How much of this distribution applied to your December 31, 2025 RMD?", enter your RMD (no extras) that you entered in the prior screen, Continue
  6. When you reach, "Review your 1099-R summaryContinue (not the pencil)
  7. When you reach, "Let's go over any required minimum distributions (RMD)", Continue (not the pencil)

Since one of your Form 1099-R distributions covers all RMDs for 2025, you can enter the full amount of your total RMD (no extras) in the first Form 1099-R distribution above and then skip the second Form 1099-R questions about RMD by entering zero at step 4 above and just Continue through the remaining questions.
