It lets you past the screen if you choose to get refund via check. In my case, I am amending my tax return and for the federal refund if I choose direct deposit option, it just keeps looping. If I choose the get refund by check option (under direct deposit), it lets me through. Looks like that's the only way forward now...

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 follow-up questions: Page 17 of Pub 551 is very clear and uses a former home converted to rental property as an example. Thank you for the reference. It does seem like this example is different in that a home which is itself depreciated over time is different than a vehicle used for part-time business purposes and is not itself depreciated the same way, especially if only the Standard Mileage Rate was ever used over the course of its life used for business. 1) Does this make a difference in how the Cost Basis is determined upon disposition of the vehicle? Or does Page 17 of 551 always apply regardless of how the depreciation is calculated over time?   2) How would the following scenario be handled if you get a loss and a gain depending on what value is used for Cost Basis? If you have a gain, you use the original 2011 purchase price If you have a loss, you use the FMV at conversion. You may want to look up the Blue Book value for that time frame. The 2011 purchase price x business use % = $900 - $400 ITD depreciation = $500 Adjusted Cost Basis 2025 Trade-in Value x business use % = $200 - $500 = ($300) loss    The 2013 FMV when vehicle was placed into service x business use % = $550 - $400 ITD depreciation = $150 Adjusted Cost Basis 2025 Trade-in Value x business use % = $200 - $150 = $50 profit   @AmyC
You cannot "turn off" forms, but you can edit the forms to enter a $0 as needed to render them inoperable.
You're commenting on an old post. Can you explain the problem you are having and what you are trying to do?
I believe there is an error in the calculation for 6b in 1040.  The amount calculated by TurboTax is higher than the amount I calculate using the worksheets.  Can someone please double-check?

@rotoole1230 Very interesting. Thank you for posting your experience. How do you upload a long ledger of transactions into FreeTax? I essentially have long .csv files for an asset which accrued daily interest/rewards that was all later sold in one transaction. Since the platform only provided a .csv and not a 1099-DA, can you upload that type of information into FreeTax so that it calculates your gains/losses based on the all of those individual rewards cost-basis?

That's odd, I wonder if something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

I have been using TurboTax for years. And usually I always use the direct deposit option for refunds. But this year that was not an option when I went to file it gave me the credit karma account option or pay a $35 fee for the remaining option. So I set up the credit karma and agreed to them using my information all the terms that they asked for. And then when it wouldn’t load on my computer, and I exited out it then gave me the option for direct deposit. Which I used, but after I had already agreed for a credit karma to use all of my information. Did anyone else have this issue? I feel like TurboTax was scamming me out of selling my info to credit karma, which I would love to take that back.

This is March 6, 2026 and my return is still rejected for form 5695. I was told it would be fixed by today. What is the issue? I keep hitting “fix my return”, but it doesn’t do anything.
