I believe there is an error in the calculation for 6b in 1040.  The amount calculated by TurboTax is higher than the amount I calculate using the worksheets.  Can someone please double-check?

@rotoole1230 Very interesting. Thank you for posting your experience. How do you upload a long ledger of transactions into FreeTax? I essentially have long .csv files for an asset which accrued daily interest/rewards that was all later sold in one transaction. Since the platform only provided a .csv and not a 1099-DA, can you upload that type of information into FreeTax so that it calculates your gains/losses based on the all of those individual rewards cost-basis?

That's odd, I wonder if something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

I have been using TurboTax for years. And usually I always use the direct deposit option for refunds. But this year that was not an option when I went to file it gave me the credit karma account option or pay a $35 fee for the remaining option. So I set up the credit karma and agreed to them using my information all the terms that they asked for. And then when it wouldn’t load on my computer, and I exited out it then gave me the option for direct deposit. Which I used, but after I had already agreed for a credit karma to use all of my information. Did anyone else have this issue? I feel like TurboTax was scamming me out of selling my info to credit karma, which I would love to take that back.

Did you e-file your state tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. This is March 6, 2026 and my return is still rejected for form 5695. I was told it would be fixed by today. What is the issue? I keep hitting “fix my return”, but it doesn’t do anything.

This was just updated.  If you are using desktop software you may need to do a manual update. Try clearing your Cache and Cookies and then try this link instructions. If you are using the online software, Clear Cache and Cookies.    If you opened your return after filing and changed even one small number (perhaps to "see what would happen" or to test a deduction) before clicking the "Amend" button, TurboTax now thinks that "changed" version is your original. When you then start the amendment, it pulls those "in-progress" numbers into Column A.   If you are certain you didn't touch the file before amending, it's possible there were software updates after the time you filed and before you amended. The new calculation (especially for complex credits like the Premium Tax Credit) might retroactively apply to your "Original" column, causing a mismatch with what you actually e-filed months ago.   To fix this, go into Forms Mode, open the 1040X Worksheet, and manually correct the figures in Column A to match your original 'as-filed' return. This ensures the software calculates the 'Change' (Column B) correctly based on the 'Correct Amount' (Column C)."   How to amend my return?

@Rajahnik  If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return. For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/ Tax Products Group Contact Information - https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084587-Contact-Information Call 1-877-908-7228 Or email - TPG-CSsupport@greendotcorp.com

Yes.  If she is still 18, it does not matter whether or not she is a student, as long as she meets the other criteria for being your dependent, she still counted towards your EIC due to her age. Once she turns 19 up until she is 24, then the student designation matters.    The following criteria must be met to claim someone as a qualifying child: Your child (including adopted and foster children), your sibling, or a descendent of any of them. Age 18 or younger at the end of the tax year OR under 24 (and younger than you and your spouse) if they are a full-time student or any age if they are totally and permanently disabled Lived with you for more than 6 months during the tax year They did not provide more than half of their own support (social security does not count) They did not file a joint return, unless it was to claim a refund
