I am having this same issue, and this response does not address the problem: "Turbotax does not show that I have an excess contribution nor does it give me the opportunity to indicate that that I withdrew the excess contribution by the due date of the return. It does, however, indicate that my husband has an excess contribution and gives him the opportunity to indicate that he withdrew it prior to the due date of the return." This causes the software to calculate a penalty on one account but not the other.

Prior versions of TurboTax permitted taxpayers to print out input information. I believe it took the form of printing out TurboTax's questions and our answers. Can users still do that?

We have tested the transfer of Form 1041 information to CA Form 541 in TurboTax Business and found calculation errors that prevent accurate results.
It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2025" file that is experiencing this issue for further research. You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
Open your return and go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with a screenshot of your Token number (this avoids Community filters for numbers with a dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you.
Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important.
We will attempt to determine the cause of your experience and possibly provide you with a resolution.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

Follow the instructions in the link below to obtain the necessary TurboTax Desktop products if applicable (2024 and 2023).
The amendment can be completed using the steps below and if necessary you can use the IRS transcript for your original 2023 or 2024 tax return.
How do I amend a tax return for a prior year?
How do I amend my 2023 federal and state tax returns to correct a deduction? (may be helpful as well)
If your tax return has been accepted you might also be able to access your transcript from the IRS.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.
The IRS Where's My Refund site will not take into account the 5 days early, but if you signed up for the 5 Day Early product, you should receive your refund deposited 5 days prior to the date indicated by the IRS, assuming all conditions are met.
For more information click on the link below
5 Days Early Option
If you don't get your deposit 5 days early, there is a few reasons why that might happen.
Your refund was offset or differed from their estimated refund amount, bringing the refund amount below the minimum threshold or above the maximum. What is a refund offset?
Your bank wouldn't accept RTP (Real Time Payments) or Same Day ACH deposits, preventing Intuit from depositing your refund 5 days ahead of when the IRS would have deposited your refund.
The IRS didn't give Intuit 5 or more days of notice in advance. This stopped Intuit from meeting the 5 days early expectations.
If TurboTax is unable to deliver the refund 5 days early, your order will be canceled and you won't be charged the 5-Day Early fee. You will receive a follow-up email with a refund and timing update, and if any cancellation is applicable.

First, state tax affects how we report the income. No state tax: Open your return and go to the Federal tab. Select Wages & Income. Scroll down to the Less Common Income section and click Show More. Select Start or Revisit next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C. Choose Other reportable income and click Start. Select Yes when asked "Any Other Taxable Income?" Enter "Japan Government Pension" in the description and the total amount in U.S. Dollars (converted from Yen using the average annual exchange rate). State tax: Search for "1099-R" in the search bar and select the Jump to 1099-R link. Choose "I'll type it in myself." When asked for the Payer’s Federal ID (EIN), enter a "dummy" number like 99-0099999 Enter the distribution amount in Box 1 and Box 2a. Use Code 7 in Box 7 (for a normal distribution). Second, we have to determine if it is taxable. The U.S.-Japan Tax Treaty: Under Article 17 of the treaty, pensions paid by the Japanese government for government service are generally taxable only in Japan—unless the recipient is a U.S. citizen or green card holder. If the income is taxable, you are done. If the income is treaty-exempt, your spouse is not a US citizen or green card holder -remove the income. Follow these steps to remove treaty exempt income: Go to the federal income section Scroll to the bottom / show less common income Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start Scroll to the bottom Other reportable income, Start Other taxable income? Maybe (whether you can take an IRA deduction if you are already receiving a pension depends on two (2) factors). 1. You can only contribute to an IRA if you have taxable compensation (earned income) from a job or self-employment. Pension income, Social Security, and interest/dividends do not count as earned income. If you (or your spouse, if MFJ) have a part-time job, W-2 wages, or a side business, you can contribute up to the amount you earned (capped at $7,500, or $8,600 if you are 50+ for the 2026 tax year). 2. Are you are an "active participant" in a retirement plan (your current employer offers a 401(k) or pension plan that you are currently earning credits in, you are an active participant.)? You can take the full deduction for your IRA contribution If you are NOT an active participant at a current job . However, if you ARE an active participant at a current job, your deduction starts to "phase out" (disappear) if your income (MAGI) is above these 2026 limits: Single: $81,000 – $91,000 Married Filing Jointly: $129,000 – $149,000

The senior deduction is automatically calculated by TurboTax based on the dates of birth you entered for each spouse.
The senior additional deduction is not included in the standard deduction but appears on line 37 of Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, with that amount flowing to line 13b of your form 1040.
In TurboTax Online, you can only view Schedule 1-A after registering and paying the TurboTax fee.
But you can preview your form 1040 and check line 13b of your form 1040 which includes the senior deduction among other deductions if applicable, such as the tip deduction, the overtime or the car loan interest deduction.
To preview your form 1040 in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:
Open your return
In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools
On the Tools Center page, click on View Tax Summary
In the left-hand column, click on Preview my 1040
Your form 1040 will display.
Scroll down to line 13b and you should see the amount of this deduction included in this line.

There is no requirement that you enter a state in box 15 when you manually enter a W-2 form in TurboTax. On that screen in TurboTax, it is stated "Leave blank if empty on your form." If your W-2 forms lists TX as the state, you should leave that entry blank in TurboTax, as that entry on the W-2 form was unnecessary. @user17730842216
