I am trying to file my CA partnership return (CA 565) with 2025 TurboTax Business (Windows Desktop version), and the program is preventing me from E-filing because of a lack of a CA SOS file number.  I was able to successfully E-File my federal partnership return (Form 1065).   When I go through the File State Return Now workflow, I reach a Transmit Returns Now page.  After pressing the button to file, I am taken to a step titled "We Need to Make One More Check", then "Reviewing Your Return", then  "Check this Entry" requesting that I enter my CA SOS File No.  My partnership is a small 3-partner general partnership and CA does not require a SOS File No to E-file (I checked this). However, TurboTax Businsess still prevents me from E-Filing (for lack of a number).  I tried entering '0000000' and '9999999' as a work around, but TurboTax Business accepts neither of these as well, and continues to prevent me from E-Filing with California (forcing met through the workflow again, repeatedly).   Does TurboTax confirm this problem, and is there any plan to fix it?   Thanks!   Rob Lyman

@blk994    Does box 2a on the 1099-R have a $$ value somewhat smaller than box 1? (but not empty nor marked "Undetermined")

If your spouse passed away in 2025 you can file your tax return as Married Filing Jointly.  If you and your spouse are age 65 or older, then you both are eligible for the additional senior deduction.   If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.   Standard deductions for 2025 Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older   New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers. The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b Look at your Form 1040 - You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. We live in NC and my daughter (an NC resident) is going to school in SC.  She made a small amount of money ($5K) in SC working at the school and they withheld about $90 in State taxes, and no Federal withholding.  Her total AGI is only ~$6k. Other income is from int and div.  No other income or deductions.  Do I have to file in NC and SC along with Fed just to get back the $90 SC state withholding?  By the time I buy the extra state in TT and pay for electronic filing for all of them, it will cost more than the $90 refund.  Can I just not file any taxes at all for her? Also, she is part of our ACA subsidy so I think I have to show her $6K AGI as part of our MAGI when we file.  Is that the case even if I decide not to file any taxes for her?

If you have filed the 2025 tax return the bank information cannot be changed.  If the the account number is incorrect the bank will refuse the deposit and return the tax refund to the IRS.  The IRS will then mail a refund check to the address on the tax return.   If you have not filed the 2025 tax return, then go the File section of the program.  Click on Start or Revisit for Step 2.  You can change the bank information in that section.
