Thanks, I did in fact enter the data into TT from the 1095-A and the resulting 8962 shows a NIL PTC result. I was even thinking of manually printing the 8962 and including it in my return, but am not sure that might cause confusion. I'll leave everything as per TT instructions......no 8962 to be sent. If it gets kicked back I'll update here.   Thanks

We have a rental house that is next door to our primary residence.  It was rented out from 2017 through 18 July 2025 and was converted to personal use on 19 July 2025 so we would have a place for my 96-y.o. mother.  We plan to either sell or re-rent the property in mid-2026.  When I enter the days or personal use in TurboTax, it does the calculations to split between personal and business use as expected, but it also allows the loss for the part of the year it was rental property.  Up until now, all my losses have been carried forward.  I'm happy to get the deduction, but what happens when I sell the house in 2026?  We would have about 180-200 days of personal use prior to the sale.  I'm assuming we'll still have to pay capital gains on the gain on the property as if it were still an rental property, but will we still be able to deduct the losses carried forward from 2017 through 2024?

Yes, line 21A is the correct line number to report this. Codes like claim numbers, driver's license numbers, or certificate IDs are part of the XML data packet transmitted directly to the state. They are often "hidden" fields that do not appear on the PDF version of the return that you print for your records.   The claim number is usually embedded in an electronic "attachment" sent to the state but does not appear in the PDF printed version. If you see this on line 21A, it has been properly transmitted with the claim number safely embedded in the email transmission sent to the state.
@George Gordon  It's not too bad, is it? A few things could be better, but overall, not too bad. Don't you think?

I sold my primary home in 2025 which I used it for rental for 2 years.  I used depreciation on my previous years for rental. Do I have to do depreciation on both sold rental property and sale of home which is same property?  It seems like double tax if I use depreciation on both.  Let me know.  Thank you!

I had solar panels installed on my home in 2024 but did not claim any of the tax breaks on my tax returns. What do i need to do to use them on my 2025 tax returns?
Turbo tax does not seem to be caring the deduction over to reduce Missouri state taxes
I was told I would be charged $40.00 I only need federal taxes done. When I was all done I was charged $119.00. Never told there would be a difference. Sounds like bate and switch to me.
why does wisconsin keep rejecting my return

Actually I have a similar situation for 2025.  So I need to amed 2024 return, I guess.   But I have only 1 1099-R from fidelity for year 2025. I contributed 8000 in Mar 2025 for tax year 2024 which immediately converted to Roth IRA and 8000 in Sept 2025 for tax year 2025 (also converted to Roth IRA in the same month). 1) Do I need to add $8000 under wages and income in 2024 return? But I don't have corresponding 1099-R for that year though?     2) I am able to mention add $8000 under Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions in Deductions and Credits. Is it sufficient to generate form 8606 for year 2024 and amend the return?   3) Since it is a nondeductible contribution to Traditional IRA and backgoor conversion to Roth, I don't think it will change any tax for year 2024, right?

In the IRS information you will find the a QMID is required.  IRS Instruction Form 5695 It would be best to double check with the manufacturer to be sure you have the correct code. Also, check to see if they did register with the IRS here. Qualified Manufacturer QMID code (Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number) is a unique 4-digit code required for claiming the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (EEHC). If you confirm all is correct, be sure your TurboTax software is updated with the latest information.    @MRDots

Cash charity donations go to Schedule A with other itemized deductions for 2025--like mortgage interest, property tax, etc.    The "above the line" deduction for cash donations of up to $1000 filing single or $2000 on a joint return goes into effect for your 2026 return that you will file next year in 2027.   The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately.on line 13b.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately
