TT will ask you about non-deductible (after-tax) contributions after you have entered all 1099s. Have you finished the whole section — not just the 1099-R in question? I think it does it that way because the return of basis calculation aggregates all non-ROTH IRAs (for example) for a particular taxpayer.

Good to hear it's fixed in general, but as of 3/13, the "offline" desktop version has not gotten any update yet that fixes this issue.

A state refund would only go on the federal return. And only if it is taxable income. A State Tax Refund is taxable if you itemized deductions on that prior year's federal return and took a deduction for state income taxes instead of the sales tax. You got a deduction benefit for it so now you have to include it as income. If you took the Standard Deduction it is not taxable and you don't need to report it. Check your 1040 line 12 to see which deduction you took. To enter a state refund just type 1099-G or 1099-g (with the dash) in the search box at the top of your return and click on Jump To it. Enter the 1099G under Federal on the left side Wages & Income at the top Scroll down to Other Common Income You might need click on Show More to expand the section Then it's the first line for Refunds Received for State/Local Tax Returns - Click Start or Revisit You do not want the next line that says Other 1099G Income

If you used desktop software downloaded/installed from a CD to your own computer, then the tax files are stored locally on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive. They are not stored online. If you cannot recover them due to a hard drive failure, etc. you can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30 an actual copy of your tax return.

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US
Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.

Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

If you entered a 1099R for a pension, you just need to say it was all an RMD. A pension fulfills the requirements for RMD.

Your instinct to make sure the order is the same as in the past is a good one. I have seen problems with that before with state returns, and I wouldn't want to count on the IRS systems not having some odd hiccup.
In the TT desktop software, the order of the Personal Worksheets shown in forms mode is not helpful. It appears to be alphabetical by first name. There are two Personal Worksheets. One is for the "taxpayer" and the other is for the "spouse" ... take a look and see if that is what is happening. If so you could just try swaping them. That might be ok unless you have carryovers that are different for each of you (because of separate businesses, for example). You could check the Carryforward worksheet for some of that. K-1's also have a Taxpayer/Spouse checkbox.

No one can call you from the user forum. It sounds like you got a letter from the IRS or state and you need to follow the instructions in the letter. Round up the documents they want and make copies and send them to the address the letter tells you to send them to. TurboTax does not have copies of any of those documents. TurboTax only has the information you entered. So it is up to you to get copies from the employer(s), the casino (or whoever issued the W-2G if you do not have it any more) , your 1099R from the financial institution that issued it (r their web site) and your 1098T from your school (or the school's web site). As for renter's information--you have not told us what state you are in. In some states the landlord or property owner issues a rent certificate which you will need to provide to the state to get a state rent credit.
