I have TT Business.  By broker has reported a sale of a security (Treasury bill) that is not a covered security and therefore needs to be reported on Form 8940 Box C.  But that option (nor Box F) is available.  When I overide 8949 to enter the information it prevents me from efiling.  Is there a solution or a workaround to this?   Thanks.

@user17710155553    IF the import process popped up a screen the said the download was successful...and nothing was there in you tax file???.. ....THEN, there may be a different issue people have been experiencing.   There is a VERY strange pop-up during the process that you have to ACCEPT or ALLOW.  IF you don't Allow it, then nothing actually transfers. __________________ See discussions: Solved: Re: Importing Brokerage data does not work   Solved: Re: vanguard brokerage update is available from Vanguard but not on turbo tax   and Solved: Re: vanguard brokerage update is available from Vanguard but not on turbo tax

Cannot enter or edit info under 1099.  Needs review is highlighted, but will not proceed.  Forced one entry via form workaround, with the same result, cannot edit. I have PC desktop version Premier, updated. Was told by "help" to uninstall, repair & re-install. Result - no change in software, same glitches.  There may be others, but I get stopped at entering income section.   Once taxes are filed, vacation starts. Would like to get going!
I tried everything you suggested. I'm still getting the same popup (stay or leave)on the same page when I hit continue.

My 72 yo, retired husband had a Roth IRA which was converted from a regular IRA over 20 years ago.  In 2024, he took out some of the funds for the first time. In 2025, he withdrew the remainder of the ROTH.   Here's where I'm hitting a problem: "Was your Roth IRA open on December 31, 2025?" - No (there is nothing left in the Roth) "Did you open any Roth IRAs in 2024 or any previous year?" - Yes (opened/converted ~ 2001)  "Did you withdraw from your Roth IRA before 2025?" - Yes (once in 2024) "What were your Roth IRA contributions prior to 2025?" - We do not know. Did I choose the wrong answer in prior windows or is there a way to find this answer? Thank you!
That is what chat gpt indicated as well

After 20 years with turbo tax i jumped ship to tax act. It was free an easy to use. Only the state  return has a cos.  Besides the lack of support from the product specialists and from even their quality customer service team who gave me a call to rectify all this roll out issue I gave up because they drop the ball always. My biggest dissapointment has been Turbo Tax’s ability to convey a true status.. Just tell us It could be as late as mid February. . By keeping me hanging on I lost faith in their sincerity and business model.

Thanks for replying. Yes, there is about $900 Indiana local county tax which is in addition to the indiana state tax $1875. That county tax is correct, and Illinois state paid tax should cover Indiana state tax as credit but only pay Indiana county tax. I used other software before and it did exactly like this, that is why this year when I switched to TurboTax, I was confused.

If you were in school at any time in the months of January thru May. you are classified as a full time student under the Qualifying Child rules.  But you must also be under the age of 24 in 2025 and you could not have provided over one-half of your own support to be a dependent.   To be a Qualifying Child - 1. The child must be your son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them. 2. The child must be (a) under age 19 at the end of the year, (b) under age 24 at the end of the year and a full-time student or (c) any age and permanently and totally disabled. 3. The child must have lived with you for more than half of the year. Temporary absences while away at college are considered living with you. 4. The child must not have provided more than half of his or her own support for the year. 5. If the child meets the rules to be a qualifying child of more than one person, you must be the person entitled to claim the child as a qualifying child. 6. The child must be a U.S. citizen or U.S., Canada or Mexico resident for some portion of the year. 7. The child must be younger than you unless disabled.

You should enter this as taxable dividend income on your tax return.     You should be annoyed at having to do it.  The transfer agents screwed this up and the money was earned during the transfer instead of inside your IRA like it was supposed to.  But it did earn the money while it was outside your account.  And your IRA doesn't have a social security number or EIN to issue the 1099 to.  So Computershare did what they had to do and sent it to you.     Pay the taxes on it, add it to the basis in the IRA and call it a day.
I updated my charitable deductions. However, the deductions and credits page does not show the total and says it needs to be updated.

I cannot perform any of the suggestions. This is because once I am asked, “ do you have any educational expenses? And I click yes I immediately get an error message - “sorry we don’t support this. we currently don’t support educational expenses for X people.”  there’s clearly a glitch in the software, and my resolution is to use a different company to prepare my taxes this year.
Another user has reported this same problem and we submitted this to our investigation team to look into it.

Thanks for the reply.  Federal return is handling the my Civil Service retirement properly, but it won't transfer as Civil Service Retirement to Oklahoma State return.  Instead of putting the amount in the Civil Service category it puts it in the Government category with the $10,000 deduction.  It is CSRS pension, so it should be in the Civil Service category with and 100% deduction.  I entered it as Civil Service in the Federal part of the program and verified that it is entered as Civil Service in the State review, but it does't put it in Civil Service in the summary.
