Try deleting all of the contents of the cell in question and then re-enter the number based upon your tax form in question. For example, if you have a W-2 form you are trying to enter, delete the state ID number for box 15 and then re-enter it.
If this does not assist, please clarify the state and tax form you are trying to enter and we can guide you accordingly.

Your cost basis needs to break down into the cost of what you are selling. For instance, you are obviously not selling the 34 solar panels since you took them off the house and got rid of them.
So add in what you originally paid for the house. Then add in all of the improvements and repairs after the fire. Subtract all of the insurance reimbursement. Then add in any improvements that are still in the house. (The solar water heater doesn't get added in but the regular water heater that replaced it does.)
Tax credits that were offered to you for adding in windows and the like do not reduce your basis. But a rebate would. So if you got any kind of rebate credit from any agency or manufacturer you should deduct that from the basis of the property.
All of those are going to be math that you will do behind the scenes. Save your receipts that prove the value and enter the total as the purchase price of the house. So your improvements are just included as part of that total.

I entered the 1099-SA for the $777.19 distribution (Excess HSA contribution removal) onto Turbo Tax with Distribution code 2. The next screen says "Tell us if your excess HSA/MSA contribution was made by your employer and deducted from the wages in box 1 of your W-2". I made all 12 months HSA contribution via payroll deduction to Health Equity in 2024, removed the $777 excess contribution on 5/23/2025 from Health Equity. Should my answer be NO since the excess HSA contribution was not deducted from wages in box 1 of my W-2 because I removed it from my HSA account at Health Equity? Turbo Tax didn't ask “Did you pay for anything with this distribution or Was this a withdrawal of excess contributions?” or ask Did you already report this? What should I do?

Removing the amount as a Positive Adjustment in the Fed form and instead, entering it as “Withholding not already entered” worked in terms of TTax not making the cell red anymore. Thank you. However, how it's treated in the AZ Form 140 is still an issue. You mentioned; "Look for a screen called "Income Tax Withheld" or "Taxes Paid to Arizona." TurboTax usually shows a table with all your W-2s and 1099s. If you see your "Positive Adjustment" as an extra row, remove it from the table." In the desktop version in Step by Step mode in the Arizona return, there does not seem to be a screen for "Income Tax Withheld" or "Taxes Paid to Arizona" or anything like it where State Tax Withholding items are displayed. In the Forms mode there is the Tax Payment Worksheet, which now shows that amount as an "Other" withholding, but there's no way to just "remove it" without doing an override.

The software may be treating the deposit as a rollover repayment rather than a regular IRA contribution because of the date entered. Under IRS rules, an IRA distribution can be rolled back into the same Traditional IRA, if the funds are redeposited within 60 days of receipt. You made the distribution in 10/2025. If you redeposited by 12/2025, it would have fell within that window of time.
If the 60-day window is missed, the distribution remains taxable (and may be subject to the 10% early-withdrawal penalty). Any money deposited later is treated as a separate regular IRA contribution.
To confirm how it’s being handled, go to the IRA section of the return. Check if the deposit is labeled as a “Rollover/repayment of distribution,” or as an IRA contribution for tax year 2025.

I received the reply that my state return was also being filed with my federal which caused the transmission error. I do not want to file my state return just the federal return. Just before filing there was a box to check which said Federal return only, which I checked. I thought I was only filing my Federal return when I got the transmission error. I don't need to file a state return. Please advise.

Form 1099G is an information return required by the IRS. The form is filed by the states for state income tax refunds issued to taxpayers for an amount greater than $10 and who itemized on their federal return for the previous calendar year.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY? I WANT THE FREE EDITION
The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now. Thanks to the tax laws that began for 2018 returns, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's. Everything goes on a Form 1040 that has three extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition. Using the standard deduction instead of itemizing does NOT mean you will not need any of those schedules. If you started in the Free Edition and entered any data that required any extra forms or schedules, you have to upgrade to a paid version and if you are watching the screens carefully you are alerted to the upgrade.
TurboTax Online: Important Details about Filing Simple Form 1040 Returns
If you have a simple Form 1040 return only (no forms or schedules except as needed to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit or student loan interest), you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic at the listed price. Roughly 37% of taxpayers are eligible.
Examples of situations included in a simple Form 1040 return (assuming no added tax complexity):
W-2 income
Interest, dividends or original issue discounts (1099-INT/1099-DIV/1099-OID) that don’t require filing a Schedule B
IRS standard deduction
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
Child Tax Credit (CTC)
Student loan interest deduction
Taxable qualified retirement plan distributions
Examples of situations not included in a simple Form 1040 return:
Itemized deductions claimed on Schedule A, like charitable contributions, medical expenses, mortgage interest and state and local tax deductions
Unemployment income reported on a 1099-G
Business or 1099-NEC income (often reported by those who are self-employed, gig workers or freelancers)
Stock sales (including crypto investments)
Income from rental property or property sales
Credits, deductions and income reported on other forms or schedules

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction. It is shown separately.
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because
Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025
Your income is too high
You are filing married filing separately

I agree with Fmast in this situation. We're paying for the state service with e-file. We should not be forced to mail in our return after paying for the services due to a technical glitch. If that's the case then TurboTax would need to compensate by refunding the state charges to the users they're forcing to mail in their return if they cannot correct the technical issue on their back-end.

This is an explanation, not a solution. I'd like to know why Turbo Tax would release a new version that only works with newer computers. Moreover, after spending the $100 to purchase software that won't work, I spent 90 minutes on hold waiting for someone in customer service to answer a call only to be told exactly what you said. No solution. I returned my TurboTax to Costco and got my money back. Am switching to a differest tax prep platform because Turbo tax has become so **bleep** unresponsive. Well done, you have lost a loyal customer of over 20 years.

What do you mean by "pay in again?" Do you mean that you have federal or state tax due? Or are you referring to your fees for using TurboTax?
