If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return. It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment. If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:
If you filed using TurboTax Online, the Electronic Filing Instructions page will give that info.
Here's how to view the PDF copy:
Sign in to TurboTax and open your return.
On the Tax Home screen, scroll to Your tax returns & documents and select Add a State (don't worry, you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right area) to access your tax forms and worksheets.
In the menu, select Tax Tools, then Print Center.
On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year’s return.
On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2025 Federal return and Include government and TurboTax worksheets, then select View or print forms.
The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions, for your 2025 Federal Tax Return, next to Balance Due/Refund.
TurboTax Desktop
Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.
In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click Filing Inst. [It's usually toward the bottom of the list.] The form will appear on the right side of the screen.
You can view the form on the screen or you can print a copy by clicking the Print box at the bottom of the screen.
To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.

Gambling losses can only be deducted up to the amount of the gambling winnings. Gambling winnings are reported on Form 1040 Schedule 1 on Line 8b. The amount from Part I of Schedule 1 Line 10 flows to Form 1040 Line 8. Gambling Losses are reported on Form 1040 Schedule A as a Other Itemized Deductions. Gambling losses are not a one-for-one reduction in winnings. Your total itemized deductions reported on Form 1040 Schedule A must be greater than the standard deduction for your filing status to have any tax benefit.
To enter, edit or delete Gambling Winnings and Losses -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Less Common Income On Prizes, Awards, and Gambling Winnings, click the start or update button

The children must have been under 17 as of December 31, 2025.
(17 year old child could be eligible for the Credit of Other Dependents)
The credit is only as much as your tax liability, (line 19, the credit, on your 1040 can only be up to the amount on line 18, your tax liability, on your 1040)
If the Child Tax Credit "zero's out" your tax, and the entire Child Tax Credit was not fully used, the remaining amount is deducted as "The Additional Child Tax Credit" on 28.
If this does not answer your concern, please give us more information, such as the ages of the children and the amounts you see on your 1040 lines 18, 19 and 28.
To preview your Form 1040 Tax Return using TurboTax Online, please select Tax Tools on the left side bar, then TOOLS from the drop-down that opens
(you may need to play with the scroll bar on the left side to see these options)
Next, select "View Tax Summary" on the Tools Center Screen
On the left side bar you can find "Preview my 1040"
Select "Preview my 1040"
If using TurboTax Desktop, simply switch to FORMS located at the top right corner (left on MAC)
Here is a link that explains more about the Child Tax Credit.

You would need to breakdown the cost between the cost of the windows versus the cost of the solar.
The solar portion would be eligible for the The Residential Energy Credit, while the skylights would only be eligible for the Home Improvement Energy Efficient Credit .
So if each window cost with solar is $2,000 but without solar it would have cost $600, then you would allocate $1,400 of each window to the Residential Energy Credit and the $600 would go for the Home Improvement Energy Efficient Credit as long as the windows meet the Energy Star Standards. So if you had 4 windows installed, you would have a total of $5,600 in costs that would be eligible for the Residential Energy Credit and $2,400 of costs eligible for the Home Improvement Energy Efficient Credit.
The Residential Energy Credit is worth up to 30% of the costs of the property. There is no cap, although it is a non-refundable credit that can be carried forward to future years. You can include labor for the installation for this credit
The credit for the windows is also worth 30%, but has a cap of $600. It is also non-refundable, but cannot be carried forward. Labor cannot be included in the cost for this credit.
To enter this in TurboTax you will select the following:
Deductions and Credits
Your Home
Energy Credits
Then as you walk through enter the information saying yes to solar and enter the solar portion of the window and then continue through and answer the questions to enter the Skylight portion of the costs.
Q-29: Is an expenditure for a solar powered exhaust fan eligible for the § 25D credit?
A-29: Only the component part of a property that actually generates electricity for the dwelling unit is eligible for the § 25D credit. If a solar panel on a fan generates electricity to power the fan for use in the dwelling unit, the cost of the panel component may be eligible for the § 25D credit if all the requirements of § 25D are met; however, the entire cost of the fan is not eligible. Additionally, § 25D(e)(1) specifically allows certain labor costs to be taken into account when calculating the credit. Under this provision, a taxpayer may take into account only the labor costs allocable to the qualifying component when calculating the credit.
No. Roof shingles cannot be included in the cost for the credit.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.
The IRS Where's My Refund site will not take into account the 5 days early, but if you signed up for the 5 Day Early product, you should receive your refund deposited 5 days prior to the date indicated by the IRS, assuming all conditions are met.
The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.
Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?
Why do some refunds take longer than others?
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

While many tax documents arrive by January 31, some brokerages delay consolidated 1099 statements (like 1099-B) until mid-February due to account complexity. If your data isn't ready to import yet, check back in a week or two.
If you are using TurboTax Online, try importing using a different browser. Make sure any VPN or Anvi-Virus is turned off.

Form 1095-A is necessary if you or anyone included on your return obtained health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Before attempting to resubmit, you should make sure with all individuals listed on the return whether they applied for health insurance via Healthcare.gov.
If you confirm that no one on the return had health insurance through the Marketplace, you can print the return and mail it to the IRS.

Hi, I have read many pages about this and am growing more confused. I plan to sell my rental property. I have a PAL. Upon sale, does this PAL apply to my ordinary income first (highest rate), or depreciation recapture and long term capital gain? For example: Total Gain = +$50K (after adjusting cost basis with depreciation and closing costs) Total Depreciated = -$40K Total PAL accumulated = -$25K So can I use this $25K PAL to offset ordinary income first which is at a higher rate, and pay full depreciation (25% of $40K), and long term cap gains (15% of $50K)? OR Does my PAL need to offset my depreciation recapture first, so I'd have to pay (25% of $15K), and then long term cap gains tax on the remainder of the gain ($15K of remaining $10K of gain). Any help is greatly appreciated.
