What does it say on the IRS refund site?  Only the IRS is in control.   First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

The TurboTax Free Edition is for taxpayers who have a simple Form 1040 and don't need extra schedules. If your tax situation involves things like home ownership deductions, unemployment income, or self-employment, you'll need to upgrade to a version like Deluxe to make sure those specific forms are handled correctly.   See Why do I have to upgrade from Free Edition? for more information.

You might be in a loop.  When you try a recovery, you can't have any Intuit account open at all including this forum.       In any case, here are the full instructions to recover account access.  If one method fails, then go through the cleanup process again that I mention below in my bold NOTE.)   Each attempt needs to start off with a freshly-cleaned browser.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

I'm sure FTB is intentionally staying ambiguous on this as an outright stance on saying AMD on treasuries is taxable would elicit a response from the federal government reminding them that: Under Internal Revenue Code 1276, acquisition market discount (AMD) recognized on disposition or at maturity is ordinary interest, not capital gain. Ordinary interest on U.S. Treasury obligations is: Taxable federally Exempt from California income tax under California Revenue & Taxation Code § 17144 The fact that the broker reported it in Form 1099-B, box 1f is a reporting convenience, not a characterization mandate.

Yes, you can file an amended return (1040-X) to correct the reported dependent care expenses, but it is too soon to amend your return. ‌   You should wait until the return is fully processed.‌ If you are expecting a refund and are amending for an additional refund, the IRS states you should wait until you've received the original refund. Then, you can amend as soon as the federal amended tax return form 1040-X is available for filing in TurboTax.  Use this tool to check availability of forms, including 1040X: Tax form availability   Here is some more information on filing amendments: How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS

I have a Texas S Corporation that has ended up since 2022 to having practically 100% passive income.  It was never a C corporation.  According to this page on the internet, "If your S corp has no E&P, the passive income rules do not apply."  Assuming that is correct, how should I pass the passive income to the shareholders (which is only me)?  Should I do it as W2 payroll or as dividends or perhaps something else?

Thanks Mike,  Nope, not publicly traded. Its a partnership w my husband for a single family rental.   Can you put in a screenshot of the field that you are referring to on the K-1 worksheet please? I don't see any field for carryover on the k-1 worksheet, K-1, or Statement A. Nor do I see it on Schedule E  K-1 Reconciliation Worksheet - Qualified Business Income. I might not have all the worksheets from the cpa though.   I want to confirm also - that you are referring to QBI suspended passive losses when you say I can take the value in  Form 8582 Part VII. column c.   Thanks Again
While Form 4562 is ready, the work on that section of TurboTax is still in the process. It is expected to be available later this week with the end of week updates .  Please check back after Friday.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.    Sometimes—not always— the IRS corrects your mistakes, while they are processing your return.    If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on February 26.   The date is subject to change, so check on 2-26  to see if it is ready.   Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.
