TurboTax provides do-it-yourself tax software. TurboTax guarantees the calculations done by its software. The information entered into that software is data entered by you, the user. TurboTax cannot and does not check that information against any outside sources, so TT cannot know if you entered your information completely or correctly. It is up to you to enter all of your information correctly and completely, and to check your tax return before you file it. If you forget to enter some income, or enter it incorrectly, enter it in the wrong place, etc. then you may end up owing additional tax to the IRS and/or state. TurboTax does not pay the additional tax you owe. If TurboTax’s calculations were incorrect, and you owe penalties and/or interest, then TT will pay the penalties and interest. The tax due is always owed by you, and must be paid by you.
If you need to enter a claim for the accuracy guarantee:

Yeah they sent an email saying my federal was deposited and it was 100% state. All fees were deducted from that return as well. This is ridiculous. I have used turbotax for over a decade with no issues. I know with complete certainty that I dont have an offset either.

Forms 4562 attached to Schedule E are currently being updated.
The software should be updated after 02/11/26, but our tech team is working hard to have those updates before that date.

There is no place to enter on a federal tax return that you have Medicaid. The only thing anyone has to enter about health insurance is when they have a 1095A for marketplace health insurance---aka "Obamacare" aka Affordable Care Act, aka insurance from healthcare.gov. If you are on Medicaid, you do not get a 1095A. When it asks if you have a 1095A say NO and just move on.

You will have to amend your New York tax return. You will want to amend to add the credit for taxes paid to another state. Because you filed the New York return before you completed the nonresident Massachusetts return, TurboTax did the calculation on the New York return. Here is a link to the instructions on amending the return: How do I amend my state tax return? - TurboTax Support - Intuit.

My spouse died last April, and I inherited his HSA. When working on my HSA tax section, Turbotax is saying that my husband has an excess contribution that needs to be removed. However, the total amount contributed by my spouse and me is below what Turbotax says I can contribute for the year. When an HSA is inherited, are the contribution limits still figured separately for each spouse? I am using the desktop Mac version.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh
.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US
Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:
https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund
How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
