You get 0 on 6b if you didn't answer the Foreign question right. Or if the amount on 6b is too low and you are married you answered it wrong for one spouse. Go back though the Social Security entries and double check the questions. There is one that asks… Are you a U.S. citizen who lived abroad in one of these countries in 2025? Should pick NO. Or maybe your SS is not taxable. Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches: Married Filing Jointly: $32,000 Single or head of household: $25,000 Married Filing Separately: 0

@mary - Excellent summary - thanks! I did go through the F8829 line 11 Worksheet, and ended up with direct excess RE taxes. Of interest, the 8829 instructions do say that that Sch A RE taxes should of course not include what's allocated here (line 6) of the Line 11 Worksheet. HOWEVER - TT only picks up the real estate and not excess real estate from the 8829's. I tried overriding the value on line 2f of the TT Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet ("less real estate taxes deducted on Form 8829) but that caused an error. TT bug/feature or do I get to deduct it twice ....

You can find your 2024 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:
Looking at line 11 on page 1 of your 2024 Form 1040
Requesting a transcript of your 2024 tax return from the IRS. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript
Please click on this TurboTax article for more information.
Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number. If you:
Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0.
Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A).
Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less.
Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2024 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter 0 for one of you).
Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.
This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

A FMV calculator has been added, but it does not have the same functionality as ItsDeductible.
We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses. Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon. If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.

Good day, last Wednesday I was working on my taxes and had a question and called in and did the live help. The TurboTax representative asked to screen share and also asked me to send over my file using the TurboTax 2025 Premier desktop version. Today I noticed that there is a file on my computer that says "Diagnostic - do not file - 2025 last name form 1040 individual tax return.diag2025". When I sent my file via desktop TurboTax Premier, I clicked the "online" at top of program, clicked send tax file to agent. When it was received I got a "Token number" from TurboTax 2025 Diagnostic which stated a protected copy of your return has been sent. Where did this come from, how do I read it, and do I need to keep it? Thanks

In the Michigan interview, after the screen 'Here's the Income that Michigan Handles Differently' you're asked about specific income items. If you reported 'Other Income' in your Federal return, you'll get a screen showing the Federal amount, and an entry for the amount that belongs to MI. Subtract your mortgage interest refund from the Federal amount for your MI amount entry.

Mine works fine. If you are over 70 1/2 then after you enter the 1099R keep going. In my Desktop program one of the next screens will say…Do any of these situations apply to you with a list. The 7th item is "I transferred all or part of this money directly to charity". Check that and the next screen will be either for RMD info or ask how much was transferred to Charity. Just keep going though all the screens. For a QCD, check 1040 line 4b. It should be 0 (unless you have other taxable 1099Rs) and the QCD box checked. The code in box 7 of form 1099-R must be 7 and the box IRA/SEP/SIMPLE must be checked. You can’t do a QCD from a 401K. For QCD there is a new checkbox on the 1040 line 4. 4a is the amount of the IRA distribution. 4b is the taxable amount. 4c has 3 checkboxes. Checkbox 2 is for QCD If you are looking at a summary screen or review screen those show the full amount as income and lump a lot of stuff together. You need to check the actual 1040 form and make sure it's right. Check lines 4b & 5b for any taxable amounts.

I hate the idea that just bc Windows ended support Intuit suddenly can't provide its own security? For shame. Certainly doesn't instill confidence in the product; websites and online storage are famously insecure. This site is so bad. For starters, it tells you that you can upload last year's tax file, but it doesn't even have .tax as a file extension it will *try* to look for. It tells you you can't upload a .pdf, but of course you can, it just doesn't do any good. It's like those jobs where they let you upload a resume but then make you enter everything by hand. I am filing for my business, which it seems to automatically shoehorn me into paying something like $400-500 for, despite always paying less than $150 for as software. Do I waste my time entering everybody's SSNs and every detail it should absolutely upload, deny all assistance, and still pay 3x what the initial link promised? I think I'll try my luck at Taxact.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.
To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:
Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
Toggle the switch to ON.
Refresh the page and attempt your import again.
What do I do when my data isn't imported into TurboTax Desktop even though it says successful import in my browser?
If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:
Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

Thank you - I believe I sorted this out by using the search function when logged in and typing "Estimates and other taxes paid". Under the Turbo Tax Mobile / online there was a hot link for "Estimated Tax Credits" that is not otherwise visible on my pulldown menu. It took me directly to the place that was previously forbidden to enter and I could add her 2024 refund to pay for her 2025 taxes. Appreciate the assistance, but this still seems to be a missing option on my set of pull down menus.

Here's how to get all the forms and schedules.
TurboTax Online:
Sign in to your TurboTax Account.
Scroll down to the "Your tax returns & documents" section.
Select the specific tax year you need (e.g., 2025).
Click "Add a State" (you aren't actually adding one, but this "unlocks" the return so you can access the Print Center).
In the left-hand menu, select Tax Tools > Print Center.
Select Print, save or preview this year's return.
The Key Step: Look for a checkbox or dropdown that says "Include government and TurboTax worksheets" or "All forms."
Click View/Print to generate the full PDF, which will now include every schedule (like Schedule C, D, or E) and the internal worksheets.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you used the software installed on your computer, you must open the specific program for that year (e.g., open the TurboTax 2025 app).
Open your saved .tax file.
Go to File > Print.
In the print window, select the radio button for "All forms and worksheets."
Choose "Save as PDF" to keep a digital copy with every detail.
