Hello, due to a death I need to file a simple Final Return for my father who I was also was joint on accounts where I will receive 1099-Int & Div in father's Social Security Number.  Estate does not need to go to probate so IRS recommends to the receiver of the 1099 Nominee Distribution to eFile form 1096. My Deluxe TT Version does not include this feature and looking for guidance which Turbo Tax Version I should upgrade to. Can someone advise me if Turbo tax Premier would satisfy this requirement or do I need Business Version?     Another guidance would be appreciated.  Thank you
I put in my New York state driver's license document ID number that's on the back of my license, and they keep rejecting it. It says I have to enter the first three characters, but I cannot use IDUSA.
Co-borrowers for what?   A mortgage?   Student loan?

It looks like this is mostly correct.  Here are the steps you should take: You should have filled out the information on your nonresident New York return first.  If you didn't, go back to Your State Returns on the left side menu in TurboTax Online, delete the NJ return, then go through the NY nonresident return.  Make sure that none of any of your other income items are being allocated to New York. The allocation of you wage income of 8 months to New York would be correct. Once your New York return is finished, go back and add the New Jersey return. When you get to screen in New Jersey that states "Let's Confirm Your Taxable State Wages from [employer]", you will want to remove the New Jersey wages as they are a duplicate amount and not the New York wages. I realize this may seem to be incorrect, however, states will typically tax all your income regardless of where it was earned, then give a credit if you pay taxes to another state on that income.  Since your New York wages in box 16 equal your box 1 wages, then the wages in box 16 for New Jersey will need to be removed as they are duplicating the amount for New York.   Assuming that you will work in New York all of next year and still live in New Jersey all year, you will still be filing returns from both states.

If you are using the online version: Go to the state return and enter go to Tax Tools, then select Tools, select View Tax Summary, you should see your state summary, if not, look on the left side and select it. To view your entire return and all worksheets: For online: On the left side, select  Tax Tools Select Print center Select Print, save or preview this year's return If you have not paid, select pay now.
Can you provide a screenshot that shows one on one support for do-it-yourself Premium?   It sounds like you are  confusing that with Live Assisted Premium---which costs more.
Yes.  Schedule 1a will be generated automatically if you enter overtime pay or tips into the system.
They are working on removing the ''UPGRADE / you need Form 8959'' message.   Check back next week; the IRS will start accepting tax returns then.

I appreciate your insight, thank you. I looked at “TurboTax Home & Business + TurboTax Advantage” and its ‘benefits’ section, similar to what you have, I think. Can TurboTax Premier fully support a U.S. single-member LLC (which you disregarded), or other US entity, that owns a Colombian rental — i.e. prepare Schedule E with depreciation, Form 1116 (foreign tax credit) and Form 8938 entries (if needed)? Also: does TurboTax provide any FBAR (FinCEN 114) filing help/guidance, or must that be done separately at FinCEN.gov? Finally, confirm TurboTax does not handle complex foreign-entity filings (e.g., Form 5471) — I’ll hire a CPA for those. Thanks. @pk

You will enter it as additional property tax under deductions and credits.

both these shows availability today in the forms tool (= at some point today, later, maybe tomorrow, maybe not - these are estimates not guarantees and could still move around) and have been switching in and out of available or 1/23 this week during the release of the retirement section this week.  So presumably there is some open question preventing them being released for filing.  This all due to the big bill and other forms changes from IRS.  you'll just have to wait a little longer if you are actually ready to file - IRS isn't accepting returns til 1/26 anyway except for early test batches.   https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product=Turbotax_online&bu=cg
@johnsonballer14 Pending means it is sitting in the TurboTax servers awaiting for the IRS to open and start pulling the tax returns.  Once e-filed it cannot be retrieved.

MY RETURN IS IN PENDING—what does that mean?   You will not get any information from the IRS refund site while your return is in pending.  The IRS does not have your return yet.   Did you e-file?  Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”  If so, your return is now in “pending” on a server.  Do not try to change anything while your return is in pending. On January  26  the IRS will begin to accept/reject e-files.  The IRS accepts a FEW returns in test batches ahead of January 26—-but that is very random.   Watch your emails—including your spam folder—for the notice about whether your e-file has been accepted or rejected.  If your return is rejected you will be able to make corrections before re-filing.   If the return you e-filed is accepted you will have to wait until it has been fully processed and then amend it to fix any mistakes or omissions.  It has been taking the IRS four to six months—sometimes longer—to process amended returns.   If you e-filed your state return there will be another email later that tells you if the state was accepted or rejected.   WARNING:   Do not try to change anything on your return while it is pending.   https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-announces-first-day-of-2026-filing-season-online-tools-and-
