You may have to wait until you receive the W-2 from your employer or receive a replacement W-2 from your employer if you need the W-2 to determine your overtime premium.    You may also review your final paystub for the year to determine your overtime premium.   For many, the deduction amount is the “half” portion of “time-and-a-half” compensation that is required by the Fair Labor Standards Act and reported on a Form W-2, Form 1099, or other specified statement furnished to the individual.   Paystubs may report either:   the full overtime pay, or the "half" portion. As an example, if the employee’s regular rate of pay is $20 per hour and the employee worked one hour of overtime, the employee’s full overtime pay would be $30 ($20 x 1.5).     If the full overtime pay is reported, the qualified overtime for deduction purposes is equal to one-third of total overtime: $30 / 3 = $10.   The "half" portion and the employee’s qualified overtime would be $10 ($30 overtime pay less $20 regular pay).    For the deduction for qualified overtime:    Maximum annual deduction is $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers). Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers). The deduction reduces federal income tax liability, it does not exempt overtime pay from Social Security and Medicare taxes.  Employees will still owe these taxes on their overtime earnings. Taxpayers filing as married filing separately are not eligible for the deduction. The deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers. I am the original poster.  I used the "Forms" radio button to look at what was causing the problem.  In the "Forms" section, the question "Is this an inherited IRA" was checked.  It is NOT an inherited IRA.     Once I unchecked that box in the forms section, things returned to normal.  Also, a "New" question appeared in the step by step process.  Similar to year 2024, it asked me if the entire amount that I withdrew counts towards my RMD.  This hadn't appeared earlier before I found that inherited IRA box checked in forms.   I went back and reviewed the step by step questions looking for any box I might have checked asking if the IRA was inherited but, I didn't find any obvious selection that I might have made.   So, I'm at a bit of a loss as to why the inherited IRA box got checked but refund is back to proper amount AND the step by step asks me the question similar to year 2024 about how much of the withdrawal applies to year 2025 RMD on 31 December 2025.  Geez.

it's not a credit, it's a deduction computed in Part V. The calculation should be automatic. Check the birth dates entered in your personal info. You and/or your spouse must have a valid Social Security number. If married, you must file jointly to claim this deduction. You get $0 if your modified adjusted gross income is $250,000 or more (line 3)

Hello!    I have entered all the expenses and income for my business but the business code is wrong.  It is putting me in the wrong business code and service type.     I have searched everywhere trying to figure out why there is no edit button under business code and all the answers I see online are not helping me.    How do I change the business code number to the correct one I want?  This is becoming very frustrating.
