Box 16 on what form? A W-2? What state did you work in? If your state does not have state income tax, and box 17 is also blank, leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 empty in TurboTax. You don't need anything.
If there is an amount in box 17, but box 16 is blank, your W-2 is not filled out correctly. Ask your employer for a corrected W-2.
If you are talking about box 16 on a different form, tell us what form it is.

For 2026, the IRS has not finalized all forms and instructions yet to reflect the new tax laws. Because of this, TurboTax cannot finalize the software.
Software updates will be done on a rolling basis. If you start preparing your return now, be aware that the calculations made by the software may not be accurate and might change.
You can use this link to reference when specific tax forms will be available. You can search by TurboTax Product and for IRS and state-specific forms.

None of the deductions on Schedule 1-A are allowed for married filing separately, except the deduction for car loan interest. In order to claim the deduction for tips, for overtime, or for seniors you must file jointly if you are married.
The loss of eligibility for many deductions and credits is one of main reasons that filing jointly usually works out better. With the changes in the new tax law, you might find that you are now better off overall if you file jointly, even if it increases your state tax.

Be patient.
IF you e-file now, your return will go into “pending” until the IRS starts to accept/reject returns in late January. You cannot make any changes while the return is on the server. The IRS will start to accept/reject 2025 e-files on January 26. And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

Using the TurboTax Free online editions as a test bed, entered information for a W-2 to include using box 12 with a code of D for 401(k) Deferrals and a deferral amount of $23,500. Clicked on Continue at the bottom of the page without any errors being presented.
I am using Google Chrome Version 143.0.7499.193 with no issues with the TurboTax online editions.
If you cannot resolve this problem by changing browser, you will need to contact TurboTax support for assistance.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

You can find your capital loss carryover on last year's tax return. Look at last year's Schedule D, specifically lines 16 and 21. If line 16 (treat the loss as a positive amount) is greater than line 21, you have a carryover.
The IRS allows you to deduct up to $3,000 ($1,500 if married filing separately) of net capital losses against other types of income annually, and any unused losses can be carried forward to future years.
Also, if you used TurboTax last year, the amount, if any, should auto-populate for you.
Am I entitled to a capital loss carryover from last year's return?

I have used Turbo Tax for over 30 years, has been very reliable and fairly easy to use.
I will continue to use and recommend to others.
This year I bought Home and Business 2025. I installed on my main computer, but now I want to install on my backup computer, it says it needs Windows 11 or higher. I do not see anywhere that warning before I bought the product. How can I remedy this situation?
It is a must that I have a backup computer with this or lower product.
How can I install this product on a Windows 10 computer. I cannot update the computer, It's slow already.
Thank you
Elaine
