When in receipt of 1099-S. report the sale of the capital asset the same way you would report it without 1099-S; but any ignore-reporting exception does not apply.   @billgonzalez1

I'm planning to execte a large Roth conversion before the end of 2025 and want to simulate my taxes for various conversion amounts, but the section for IRA withdrawals (1099-R) tells me it will be "Available Soon" in the Mac desktop software. Any idea when I'm likely to be able to do my project? Thank you!

@brelaz99 wrote: the tax i paid on capital gains abroad is not being offset. what is wrong?   Are you filling out the section about a Foreign Tax Credit?   If not, that is what you need to do.  If so, be aware that the Foreign Tax Credit will very often NOT offset the ENTIRE amount of US tax.   If there is more to your story, please post as much detail as possible about your situation and what you are entering in TurdoTax.
When I'm putting profits from selling personal items, can I deduct eBay fees and supplies for shipping along with original cost of the item?

You said you "applied" for the health insurance but didn't "use" it.   Was your application accepted so that you HAD insurance?  If you 'had' the insurance (your application was accepted and you did not cancel it), it doesn't matter if you didn't actually use it  or not - you had the insurance.   If you had insurance (you applied and it was accepted), you can probably access your 1095-A on your online account for the Marketplace.

I never knowingly ordered the Advantage plan and received no emails in October or November regarding the plan.  Looking at my records I noticed I was charged $120 the previous year for the same thing.  You owe me $240 for illegitimate charges, so either credit my credit card or apply it to future transactions.  Otherwise I will cancel my account.

@AJH4  just so there is no confusion, and your post suggests there is as there no test that combines income and school to determine a dependent.      There are two flavors of dependents - Qualifying Child and Qualifying Relative.   for the Qualifying Child, if he is a full time student, under the age of 24, lives with your at least half the year (and temporarily away at college still counts as living at home) and provides less than 50% of their own financial support, then he is your dependent.  Note there is no income test.    For the Qualifying Relative, he can not be a Qualifying Child, he earns less than $5200, and you provide more than 50% of his financial support, he is your depedent.  Whether in school, whether living with you are not tests for the Qualifying Relative who is your child.
But what if payments into my 457 are NOT pre-taxed contributions. What if I pay into my 457 from my own funds? Are the payments eligible for a tax credit?
