Waiting for your child's amended return to be processed was futile. You will not be able to e-file your return this year with the duplicate use of their SSN. Your own return that claims him must be printed, signed and mailed.
Some users have had success by doing this:
GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return

I did my dependent son's and my taxes again this year using TurboTax. I submitted my son's first, and when that was successful, I submitted mine. Mine was rejected because I did not check the box on my son's return saying that he could be claimed as a dependent by someone else. I requested an extension on my return, and I filed an amended return for him in April with the box checked to correct it. I am still unable to submit my return because of the same issue, and it's the extension deadline. Checking the IRS website, it says that my son's return was adjusted on 9/19, but the completion date isn't until 10/20, which is too late for me to file. What are my options? Calling the IRS has not been successful.

MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED
The state will send you a letter explaining the change. TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less. Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans? Traffic fines, etc.?

No, there has not been a date announced for when the IRS will begin to accept e-files for tax year 2025.

Has the IRS set a date yet for when e-files will be accepted? I'm planning to travel at the beginning of the year, and knowing this would be strategically helpful.

Turbotax does not automatically handle line 11zz. there is a sub schedule with two options.
1) the amount is reported schedule E page 2
2) other - Turbotax ignores this - you are on your own as to where to enter it. Don't know if this is a passive or nonpassive LTCG which may or may not make a difference on your 1040. you may need to contact the partnership unless they provided additional guidance like in box 20 or a cover letter.

Only the state can tell you. The person you spoke to should have been able to tell you what they changed on your return. The state should be sending you a letter saying what they changed.

Thanks, xmasbaby0, but I'm specifically asking if Intuit tech support or someone has actually tested the soon-to-be-released Home & Business 2025 for Mac with MacOS Tahoe 26.

I did my taxes with Turbo tax. I owed on federal and paid it. I mailed my state tax forms out, and for months I would only see that "they" received it. I was able to call and speak with a live person, but was told that I was not getting back the amount on my form. It was being reduced. How do I find out why? Who do I call? It was a drastic reduction of about $600.00 Please help if possible.

I claimed Commercial Clean Air Tax Credit (45w) for my pickup truck that I am using for my rental property. Since I am not real estate professional I believe I have to mark on Form 3800 "Check if all passive". However, when I do that, I see that my tax liability increases back by $7,500. Essentially no tax benefit. So where did the $7,500 tax credit go after marking it as passive? Here is what I tried: 1. I artificially increased my gross income from rental properties so there definitely would be enough tax to offset. But it still not reducing tax liability if marked as passive tax credit. 2. I exported my tax return as PDF and searched for 7,500. The only place I see it is on 3800 Line 2.

@baldietax Thank you for a very thorough answer. I believe you mean that to avoid a penalty, you must pay at least the smaller of : 1) 100% of your 2024 tax (110% if AGI > 150k or 75 if filing MFS), or 2) 90% of your 2025 tax Correct? Re the AI method. you said : For the AI method you will need to calculate your AGI, withholding, Qualified Divs, LTCG etc by quarter (not even quarters tho - 3/31, 5/31, 8/31, 12/31) and that will show the uneven income in those buckets and that the estimated tax in Q4 was not late. This seems very complex. Is there guidance on how to do that? Thank you
