When you report tips on your return you will be reporting the yearly total. Keep good records to support that amount in case of an audit.

Can I replace the email address associated with my Turbo Tax account?
Many users have multiple accounts.  If you prepared your tax return, filed it, and it has been processed by the IRS then you can ignore the emails that are being generated by an "old" account.
And it appears my info has been sold as now I receive calls to help solve my tax debt. Can I call someone for assistance?

Since this is an online forum, it's hard to determine exactly what is happening.     I recommend following the instructions in this link to ensure you have entered the information in the correct area of TurboTax.  Also, in order to claim a deduction, it must meet the requirements of being declared a federally declared disaster as outlined in this link.

Or do you mean you amended the first return?   You needed to wait for the original return to be fully processed and you get the first refund before amending.    What does the IRS say about your refund?  Have they sent it?  Were you having the Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund?

For the rental, you will need to indicate that the rental property was available for rent starting on November 15th instead of breaking it out as being partially for personal use and partially as a rental property.     See this link for more guidance on entering your rental property within TurboTax.  This thread also has more detailed information to help you set up the assets for your rental property.   As for mortgage interest and property taxes, yes, you can allocate the amount for the 31 days rented and report those as expenses on your rental activity.  The remaining balance would be reported as part of your itemized deductions.

Hello.  My wife is a hairdresser, gets paid bi weekly, and so declares tips bi weekly as well.   Instead of declaring every two weeks her tip amount, is it possible to do it as a lump sum while I’m preparing for filing at tax time?  We keep all records and amounts.  It, sometimes, is a pain to get her boss to add the tips every two weeks.   When we do miss a bi weekly report of the tips, we just add when doing taxes.  Just wondering if I can do same but for entire year all at once.   Al

What do you mean by "my first or second amount of taxes?"    Are you referring to a federal and state refund?   Did you choose to have the refunds direct deposited, or did you choose to have checks mailed to you?   If you used the wrong (old) address on your tax returns, then you may need to send in change of address forms to the IRS and the state.   To change your address with the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/address-changes/address-changes   To change your address with the state: https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/address-changes/address-changes     DID YOU E-FILE?   Did you e-file?   Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted  or rejected your federal e-file.  If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.   Check your e-file status:   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/    What does it say in your account?  Does it show that the return was accepted?   Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?”     TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst     Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.

I assume that this was not a section 1035 exchange into a different contract.  The taxable amount is taxable as ordinary income.  (An annuity is not a capital investment.)  The Form 1099-R will have the gross distribution amount in box 1, the taxable amount in box 2a and the amount of the investment in the contract in box 5.  The codes in box 7 will be 7D or 1D depending on your age at the time of the distribution.  Entering this Form 1099-R will cause TurboTax to include the gross amount on Form 1040 line 5a and the taxable amount on line 5b.  If you were under age 59½ resulting in the distribution codes being 1 and D, you'll also have a 10% early-distribution penalty on the taxable amount, calculated on Form 5329.

Do you have the .tax2020 data file?  Sorry even if you find 2020 to buy somewhere you probably won't be able to activate it with the License Code.    The License Code started in 2019.  So 2019 and newer  needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code.  But they only support the last 3 years and have stopped supporting 2020 and prior.  And you won't be able to download any updates or any state programs you might need.  And  you will need to download the state program to open the file.     OR you could try the TaxPrinter service to convert a .tax file to pdf at https://www.taxprinter.com They might be expensive and it is probably not safe to email tax returns back and forth. They are not related to Turbo Tax.

Unfortunately, only the filing agencies would be able to answer those questions.  Please refer to the contact information at the bottom of this link to inquire directly with the agency.
