Hi, I'm curious if the interest on a HELOC can be deducted if that land goes under construction for a home that will become the primary residence once complete? I understand that before construction you can't deduct interest, but the way I read the rules it seems like interest could be deducted as soon as the land is improved (construction begins). Thanks!

Decline in the beginning. I will inform my bank of the overcharged if you don't correct the matter. Quite a few folks end up in LIVE TurboTax unknowingly and don't use it but are billed for it. There is a way to remove it prior to paying, but a lot of folks either don't realize it or don't ask for help in removing it prior to paying. This is a user community forum, so TurboTax Support won't see or do anything account-specific through this. Below I tell you how to reach Customer Support and how to escalate if necessary. If you haven't already done so, you can speak to them by phone. If phone triage asks your issue, say "billing issue." Support hours are 5AM-5PM Pacific, Mon-Fri this time of year. FAQ: What is the TurboTax phone number? https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number/00/25632 If you have already spoken to TurboTax Support, and if you wish to escalate your issue, you can file a complaint with the office of the the president of Intuit. They say they will get back to you in 1 business day. The contact form and a box for explanation of your issue is here: https://www.intuit.com/company/contact/office-of-the-president/

If you tried to e-file the amended state return, you should have received an email letting you know if your return was successfully transmitted or not. If you did not receive this email, you can contact us and ask an agent to verify whether your amended return was submitted or not.
If you mailed your amended state return in, you will need to wait for the state to process the return and check their website for updates.

Box 5 is comprised of scholarships and grants, and it would not necessarily be considered the employer. But if there are excess scholarship funds that were not used for tuition, then the university would show as being the issuer of the income on your wages on Form 1040.
Please see are my scholarships, fellowships, or grants taxable for more details.

Did you maybe enter an estimate you made in January for the 2023 4th qtr payment? Did you check your bank statements for all the payments? You’ll have to send CA proof you made the payments. Your only proof is your bank account or credit card showing the payments. How did you pay them? Maybe one got applied to the wrong year or the wrong account.

Folks - the answer is on the first screenshot of my original post, just click and do the form as instructed and it calculates everything correctly, including the losses carryforward(ed) from 2022 through 2023. So there is actually no problem I am identifying, i just didn't understand what turbotax was asking me to do, and once I just did it, it worked. I doubt anyone else will make this mistake :).
