Try the option to print both the federal and the state. The state amendment might be at the end of the PDF after the federal amendment forms, which is probably why the instructions say to separate it from your federal return. If that doesn't work, then contact support for further assistance. What's the TurboTax phone number?

Did you e-file your state tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...

I am using the desktop version of TurboTax 2024 and had filed for an extension in April (and paid an amount). I've now completed my return and selected to e-file the federal e-file option. Because I'm unable to e-file in for my local state return, I chose "do not e-file my state return now". (That screen also indicates that the federal return has been transmitted. Yes, in April but as an estimated return.) The next screen says I've not chosen to e-file anything. My software is updated, no overrides, no outstanding errors. How can I now e-file my updated federal return?

The only time you would have an issue is if you are living in separate states. Different states have rules on what you can and can't do if you want to file jointly married and separately in the different states. We would need to know what states both spouses live in. But if both spouses live in California, even in different homes, there would be no problem filing jointly at the federal and state returns.

If "it" that says a check was mailed is "Where's My Refund?" on the IRS web site, there is no other way to confirm that. You just have to wait until you get the check. I suspect that when "Where's My Refund?" says a check was mailed, it really means that they printed the check. It wasn't necessarily put in an envelope or given to the Postal Service on that date. And the mail is often slow. So give it some more time. It could take as much as two weeks from the date they say they mailed it until you receive it.

Another thing to check.....if you didn't have you software fees paid out of your Federal Refund. If you have a brokerage account, check any activity in there....sometime people accidentally directed the refund to their brokerage account, and the routing/account numbers for those are something you wouldn't immediately recognize.

No, unfortunately. If the rental was not 'in service' then rental expenses may not be deducted. In service, means that the property was ready and available for rent, even if you were unsuccessful in securing rental agreements at the time. The property does not need to be occupied or generating income-just 'available'. If the property was not offered for rent, then its use is converted to personal use. You may resume taking rental deductions when you make the property available to rent again, generally through listing or advertising. Your property may qualify for some second home deductions on Schedule A if you used the property for personal use. See more information on second homes here.

I have a mortgage balance in January of of the year of $1,000,000. Paid down a significant part of it in February (still the same mortgage). So the current balance is less than $750,000. But the average balance is far less than beginning of year + end of year balance divided by 2. I can calculate the average balance by averaging all of the months (accepted by IRS) but how do I get this into TurboTax to calculate the fair mortgage interest deduction (desktop premier version)?

Sorry you won’t be able to install or reinstall or activate 2019. They only support the last 3 years. And the License Code started in 2019. So 2019 and 2020 needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code. But they only support the last 3 years. So you can’t install and activate 2020 and prior (then add a year going forward). Surprised you got 2020 activated and got 2018 & prior updated.

TurboTax is longer supported for years before 2021. Updates are not supposed to be available for 2020 or earlier. I'm surprised that you were able to get updates for any of the other years.

Anyone sen this kind of issue before? I've tested the 2017, 2018 and 2020 versions and they all update just fine, but the TurboTax 2019 Home & Business version fails updating with this "Error 42016: Unexpected content received" although it does reach out to the server - looks like it cannot understand the received content.
I'd appreciate any help on finding a real solution to this issue. TT tech support team??

"mail a ton of paperwork to the IRS. " @steyaert How to file: Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because the Form 1040-X reflects any changes there and becomes your new tax return. Include any new/corrected tax document only if it shows federal tax withheld, and include in order only those Sequence Numbered tax forms and schedules that changed or were added due to your amendment. Attach the schedule or form(s), if any, that you used to figure your revised tax (LIne 6). Don’t attach worksheets. Mail to the address shown for your location in the most recent Instructions for Form 1040-X.
