Sorry for the frustrating day you have had.  You cannot e-file a 2023 tax return.  E-filing is permanently closed for 2023.  Those returns have to be printed, signed and mailed.   Skip past the screens that offer e-filing---you cannot e-file.  Only some professional tax preparers with pro software have the ability to e-file a past year return.   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

The IRS levies underpayment penalties if you don't withhold or pay enough tax on income received during each quarter.  Even if you paid your tax bill in full by the April deadline or are getting a refund, you may still get an underpayment penalty.      Example:  Taylor is self-employed and estimated next year's tax bill at $20,000. Rather than making 4 quarterly payments of $5,000 each, they chose to pay $500 in each of the first 3 quarters, and the remaining $18,500 in the fourth quarter.   When they filed, their actual tax bill came to $17,270 and they got a $2,730 refund. However, Taylor got hit with the underpayment penalty, because they underpaid their estimated tax in the first 3 quarters.   To possible reduce or eliminate the penalty, see this TurboTax FAQ.

I sold a small amount of cryptocurrency (BTC) last year. TurboTax is trying to make me fill out Oklahoma Form 561, but none of the "types of property" apply as BTC is not any of the options: 1. The sale of stock in a qualified Oklahoma corporation. 2. The sale of an ownership interest in a qualified Oklahoma company, limited liability company, or partnership. 3. The sale of qualified real property located within Oklahoma. 4. The sale of qualified tangible personal property located within Oklahoma. 5. The sale of qualified intangible personal property located within Oklahoma as part of the sale of all or substantially all of the assets of an Oklahoma company, limited liability company, or partnership or an Oklahoma proprietorship business enterprise. It also won't let me check the "exclude" box. What do I do?
