I filed for both state and federal returns at the beginning of March and already received my federal return around March 23rd. I haven't receieved my state return, though, and can't find a way to track it. When should I receive my state return? (It was listed as "accepted" on the same day my federal return was.)

TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS after you file your tax return, so no one at TT knows about a notice that was sent to you by the IRS. TurboTax cannot intercede with the IRS for you. Provide some information here---what is the letter number on the notice? What does it say? Do not include any personal information in the user forum like your name or SSN.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

Hi, I am an international student on a fellowship in the USA, and am making interest from CD products. I do not have to pay any tax since I am NRA, but I could not include the 1042 form in my tax return since I received it late from the bank. Would I have to amend my tax return or is it alright for now?

And as for the medical expense question-----if you itemized medical expenses on a tax return and included that expense, but were later reimbursed for the expense by insurance, then the amount reimbursed would be taxable. But you are only supposed to enter medical expenses that you already paid out of pocket. You should never enter medical expenses that are outstanding.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing of your return or the release of your refund. Here are a couple FAQs to track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others? What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Do I get a credit or deduction if my child is disabled?
If your child is older than 12 and you need to pay someone to take care of him while you work, you can say he is disabled and you can still get the childcare credit on your federal return. Or if he is 19 or older you may still be able to claim him as a qualifying child dependent on your federal return.
Aside from those things, there is no federal tax advantage to saying that your child is disabled. Your state tax laws might be different.

Yes. If you were open and ready to provide products & services to your customers, you would report all activity for that tax year, even if you had no income (or a loss).

You can try these steps to resolve if you are using the online version: Clearing your Cache and Cookies Using a different browser Opening an Incognito Window If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines. You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed. You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return. Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return. The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected. You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment Select your product below and follow the instructions. The materials and supplies you use to produce your merchandise can be reported under similar expense lines in TurboTax for self-employment (Schedule C).
Note that you aren't required to report inventory (Cost of Goods Sold) if your gross receipts were under $26 million over the last 3 years. Most small business owners prefer to expense materials and supplies as they are purchased to avoid the additional work required to account for inventory.

No, you do not need to amend for this, but be sure to correct for next year.
