The Health Equity rep told me I should removed $777 excess HSA contribution, this amount + 19 cents earnings were removed on 5/23/2025. I am trying to amend my 2024 tax return. I answered the step by step question under "Deductions & Credits" - Medical - 1099 SA. HSA, MSA - I stated that I have Medicare coverage for November & December 2024, Turbo Tax calculated my maximum contribution limit is $4,292.00 and that my Excess Contribution is $368. However, I withdrew $777 + 19 cents earnings on 5/23/2025. How do I change the number from $368 to $777 in Turbo Tax?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
TurboTax Online:
Sign into your online account.
Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.
TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
Open your return.
Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created. Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.
*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
Please tag me in the thread when you send your token so that I am notified directly.

@NCPERSON1 Thank you for your reply, yes I'm referring to rule of 55 early distribution from 401k with no penalty (tax is due regardless) and specifically my question was what to do if the Administrator does NOT code the 1099-R correctly with the proper penalty exemption code in box 7 - then what? The reason why they would do that pure incompetence so I'm trying to gather counter measures one can take if the inevitable happens when they issue the defective 1099-R

When you are in MY INFO ---preparing your federal return-- you are asked what state you lived in. And then you are asked if you made money in any other state---so you have to click on the state you made money in besides the state you lived in. When you prepare a non-resident state return, you must prepare the non-resident return BEFORE you prepare the return for your resident state.

Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive? Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account. TurboTax sends several emails to you before they take the money out of your account.

TURBOTAX SAYS:
How do you justify debiting my account?
The provision is spelled out in the Pay With My Refund Agreement, which you agreed to when you opted to pay with your refund.
In addition, by clicking the "I Agree" button below, you electronically sign and authorize Intuit (through its third party processor) to debit the TurboTax Fees, Additional Products and Services Purchased and any applicable sales tax from your bank account number identified in the Agreement below, in the event that you do not receive a tax refund that is sufficient to pay for them.
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

The charge for this was suppose to come out of the refund. You can’t charge my account, as I am out of work from surgery last month, and having another surgery next month. I get NYS Disability which is $156.34 a week. It doesn’t even cover my rent. Send me a bill in the mail, and I will try to pay a little when I can, till I’m better from my surgeries. Thanks. We cannot see your tax return. The child tax credit is $2000; the "refundable" part of the CTC called the additional child tax credit is $1700. If you removed a dependent, there may have been other child-related credits that were affected--like earned income credit or the childcare credit. And if you are not claiming a dependent, then your filing status may have changed from Head of Household to Single, which would make more of your income taxable.

You have self-employment income for which you will need to prepare Schedule C and you will need to pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare. Since you will be using desktop download software, you will be able to use any version of the software in order to do that. Any version of desktop software can be used to prepare Schedule C.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2024 only. Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

So TurboTax says I need to file an FBAR and I am trying to do that separately. But since my assets are not 200,000/300,000 USD it says I don't need to report it. I am worried since I saw a post about something with TurboTax being buggy about saying no about something on the forms. Is there anything I need to do on TurboTax to help with the FBAR? Also when Filling the FBAR since I have only 1 bank account and not joint accounts. Do just fill out Parts 1 and 2? Or do I have to file parts 4 and 5 as well? Does TurboTax offer help for FBAR?
