Job seeking expenses were eliminated from the federal tax laws when the laws changed for 2018 to 2025.
However, even without income, you may be able to deduct your expenses, as long as you meet certain IRS guidelines. Self employment business losses can offset other income on your tax return and lower your overall tax bill.
Did you operate your appraisal business as a Schedule C business last year?

Your 2024 Federal Personal Extension has been rejected Dear TurboTax customer: This happens from time to time, but we’ll help you fix it. What happened? R0000-902-01 - Taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return. What does this mean? In most cases, you just need to submit a new extension application before the filing deadline. Get more information about this and other extension options from the TurboTax Community, your trusted source for all things tax related. Thanks, TurboTax
