@jtjunio When they are entered in the SSA-1099 area, the software automatically includes them in the Medical Expenses area as some of your potential Medical deductions. You won't have to enter them separately. When you do eventually start thru the Medical Expenses area, you should see them in there already as a separate entry displayed on the page you are supposed top enter any other medical premiums you paid during 2025.

Yes. This is an additional deduction, not included with the standard deduction. This additional deduction for seniors is calculated automatically based on the birthday you have entered in your tax return. Note, this deduction has income limitations. It begins phasing out at income of $75,000 for a single filer (or $150,000 married) and is completely phased out at income of $175,000 for a single filer (or $250,000 married). This deduction is located on Schedule 1-A Additional Deductions, Part V. The total additional deductions will be summed and appear on your 1040, line 13b. You can check this in TurboTax Online by navigating to Tax Tools on the left of your screen, choose Tools, then View Tax Summary. On the left of the screen, select Preview my 1040, and scroll to Schedule 1-A Part V.

This is contrary to the example in the “Learn more” instruction for entering exempt dividends from bond funds with multiple states. The example uses a bond fund with $1000 of dividends. The example from Turbo Tax: You lived in California and received $1,000 in interest from the ABC tax-exempt bond fund. Select California from the dropdown list and enter the $60 of interest received from California. Select Multiple states and enter the balance of $940. I did not try your suggestion to reverse the order by selecting multiple states first. I gave up on using TurboTax for submitting my state return, and submitted manually by mail.

It sounds like you live in a state that charges 6% sales tax. The fee was only $35 and the state is taking the additional $2.10.

The worksheet on p18 uses the phrase "gross foreign source income" and that exact phrase is used in form 1116 line 3d. TT's instructions state that the source for line 3d is the f1116 worksheet line 1f which uses the phrase "unadjusted gross income this category." Apparently TT takes the position that is what the IRS requires.

It depends. If you are not married, you don't need to pay taxes on your son's father's marketplace insurance.
However, if your son is your dependent but on his marketplace plan, you will need to include that. When a child is on a parent's Marketplace plan but is claimed as a dependent by the other parent, it creates a "shared policy" that requires allocating the Form 1095-A amounts between the two tax returns. You are seeing tax implications because the IRS needs to reconcile the advance premium tax credits paid to the father's plan with your household income, since the son is a member of your tax family. To resolve this, you and the father must agree on a percentage (it can be any percent, as long as you agree so you could choose 100% father/0% son) to report on Form 8962, Part IV so the total equals 100%.
If your son is your dependent, he is part of your tax family, and you must report your agreed-upon share of the policy's premiums and credits on your own return.

Try going back through the HSA section of your return where the Form 1099-SA distribution was entered and be sure you have answered the question asking whether the distribution was used entirely to pay for qualified medical expenses. This may clear the error message.
The message seems to indicate that there is an issue with regard to the HSA distribution and the 20% additional tax that is imposed when the distribution is not used for medical purposes.
If this does not clear the error, please share if there is any additional information reported on lines 15 through 17 on your Form 8889. Also include where you are seeing this error message.

I have similar problems. My return was previously rejected for same "errors" below ... TurboTax says "calculation errors". After March 12, 2026 update I deleted my 5695 and started over with my "interview". Completed "interview" and then printed my form 5695. It has Part II Section A line 17 a,b,c marked NO even though I marked YES in interview - NO indicates housed not located in US - address showing in Section B 21 c is in US - The IRS will not approve the credit if your house is not in US. And Section B (enabling property) 25a is not marked even though I answered No in the interview. ... But here is the frustrating part even with these errors which will get my return rejected again TurboTax is still reporting I have NO ERRORS and my TAX CREDIT is $2,000 Any suggestion how to fix this in order for my return not to be rejected?
