The program should let you enter the preceding zeros for your state ID but it does not allow dashes.  Make sure that you did not enter any dashes.     If you are still having issues, sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files) because a full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax.  You can try these steps if you are using the online version:   Clearing your Cache and Cookies Using a different browser Opening an Incognito Window Please reach out again if your problem persists.

It has been over 10 months. I am not sure if they received it at all, even though I checked with specialist form turbo few time. i am not sure the amended return was correct. When I call this number, the automated system does not allow me to speak to a representative. After collecting all of my information, it says it cannot find my record.
Correct!  Just be sure when she files her return that she marks the box that says Someone else will claim me this year!   This will prevent your return from getting rejected if she files first.

We are unable to reproduce this experience. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2025" file that is experiencing this issue.   You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.  If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:    In TurboTax Online, go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.  Then select Tools below Tax Tools.  A window will pop up which says Tools Center.   On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.  You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.  Reply to this thread with your Token number and tag (@) the Expert who requested it. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.   If you are using TurboTax for Desktop, go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."   We will attempt to determine the cause of your experience and possibly provide you with a resolution.

If you're referring to your W-2, then this was likely prompted by entering a value from box 15. If there is a value in box 17 for state tax paid, then you will need to enter an amount for box 16, state wages. If you only worked in one state for this job for the year, then state wages is most likely equal to box 1, Wages, tips, other comp.  If there are no values in box 16 or 17, then you can delete anything entered for box 15 and move forward.    You also have the option of asking your employer for a corrected W-2 if you want to verify the state wages amount.

Hi,   I reached out to Computershare. They were not very helpful especially regarding the stocks purchased early on in my career.

If your income is $104,001 or more, your income is too high.   The deduction starts phasing out at $100,000.   If your income is $104,100, then the calculation takes $4,100 and divides it by $1,000, to get 4.1. Then that 4.1 gets rounded up to 5. Then you multiple 5 by $200 to get $1,000. That $1,000 reduces your potential deduction. Your potential deduction was $971 so it is reduced by $1,000, resulting in no deduction.
That worked. Thanks Dawn. I guess I have 2 follow-on questions: 1. Am I allowed to make up a code for box 7 of a 1099-R? 2. Am I allowed to break a 1099-R into two?   I guess it doesn't matter as... See more...
That worked. Thanks Dawn. I guess I have 2 follow-on questions: 1. Am I allowed to make up a code for box 7 of a 1099-R? 2. Am I allowed to break a 1099-R into two?   I guess it doesn't matter as box 7 from a 1099-R is not put on the tax return anywhere and the result, that can be seen in the forms view 1099R Summary, shows everything correct and flows to the 1040 form correctly.

Follow these steps: You must report the 1095-A in order to e-file.  Your RHRA makes you ineligible for the PTC since it meets the minimum essential coverage. You should be able to claim that you had other coverage. To make the software happy,  look for a screen that asks if you were "eligible for employer-sponsored coverage?" or look for "did you have other health coverage available?"  answer yes for all covered months This should eliminate the credit from your return. If not, there is one more workaround. Follow these steps: For column B, enter $1 for affected months For column C, enter $0 or blank - unless there is a number here where the government already paid part of the premiums for you, you will probably have to pay that back. Enter the correct amount already paid for you. This tells the program not to allow you eligibility for the PTC.

If you are just a landlord and are not in the Business of renting properties, you are not required to provide a Form 1099-NEC or Form 1099-MISC for anyone providing a service on the rental property.
